i installed an X-OST 3 years ago on my '84 308 QV... Love it. That is until this Sunday when a ride on the country side with my wife proved to be too noisy for a simple conversation! Any way to muffle the noise on these thunderous exhoaut short of going back to the ansa? Any "occluder" for 2 of the 4 tailpipes would do? I never believe i would find it too noisy!

Do you have the Race or the LeMans version X-ost?
LeMans is supposed to be their loudest model.

it is the Race.... it has a very low rumble sound @ 2000-4000 rpm and then becomes quite thunderous. it is ok for a short ride but 4 hres later all my fillings are loose!

    Daniel,

If the QV is too much car for you in your advanced age, just send it down here, I will take care of it for you. Perhaps a boxster might be more your speed!!

    Hope to see you soon.

I had the muffler guys start the car up with just the flowmaster and i was worried about getting through town without getting attention fromthe black and whites. You might try a set of twin pipe resonator tips. This seriously helped the flowmaster on my 77. It still is a bit loud for my wife :)

    Hope this helps,
    chris

My girlfriend is complaining that the tubi under her 328 isn't quite loud enough.....

    Heh heh.

    I feel lucky!!! :D:D:D

Personally, I've never found the X-OST on my Dino to be too loud. It's muted down low and roars at 5000+ rpm. Want to talk? Shift early. Want a concerto? Keep up the revs...

It struck me though how much difference there is between a euro and a US tubi for 328's. The euro one behaves like my X-OST. The US version is like a 550 tubi: a very deep growl from idle to around 3000 rpm, and then slowly fading out as rpm's climb. Might be because of the cats?

    I prefer the euro behaviour...

Yeah I agree with Hans,on my old GT4 I had the X-Ost and it was the race version, absolute symphony when opened up.I drove a 328 with Tubi and cats and it didnt sound all that nice and actually annoying, but my 328 which is Euro and no cats has a SS exhaust and is very quiet up to 4000rpm but after that it screams
