I am doing a little research(mods this has nothing to do with my business or marketing) I am trying to find out how many people in Houston and the surrounding areas like to keep their cars clean and detail them themselves. So if you can post here saying that you do or saying that you don't really care to being that you don't have time or whatever. Thanks guys.

I don't really want anyone else touching my car.

I took my old lamborghini countach replica to a well known car detail shop here in Austin Texas (Westlake area - "Finish Line") to get some sort of a titanium wax for a photo shoot. Some $100.00 wax job... Well, I pulled the car into an open area bay and the people in the bay next to it were all looking and smiling (not sure if any of them spoke english... kinda weird for such a nice place). I looked over and one woman, who was using some sort of broom looking brush on the top of the Jeep's hood beside me, was just looking at my car and smiling. I was like what the heck.... because I saw what she was doing. She then looked at her brush, only to see it was upside down, with the bristles in the air and the plastic back part scraping across the hood of the Jeep. I was very hesitant to leave my car for the remaining tome to have the wax completed, but it all came out good.

Never taken my car to a detail shop since then and that was about 5 years ago.

For my last 2 Vipers, I just take a clifornia duster to it after a cruise, to wipe the dust off and put a car cover on it. Never had any problems with paint scratches, so I still do it till this day. Keeps the dust off and makes it look washed for a good month or two. Just gotta clean off the wheels from time to time as brake dust makes the front wheels look dirty.

I like to wash my car myself, and I "try" to wax it at least once a year. With this crazy weather and for certain reasons of needing my car cleaned I've driven through several times. It hurts, both the eyes and pocket books.

If I plan on keeping my car I plan on letting you detail her at some point. But this is an ongoing saga in my mind. :(

I live in Houston (champions) wash/wax/detail all of my cars. Since they never see rain, it is usually a light exterior cleaning which allows me more time to detail the wheel wells, engine and the underside of the cars.

I love to wash and detail my own car. I wouldn't mind paying someone to do it, but have never met or hired anyone that puts in the same effort that I put into it myself. This is primarily my own fault since I haven't really looked. Plus, I like buying all different types of detailing stuff and trying them out to see what works best for me. At first I was just into washing and waxing, but now I use clay, polish, etc., really the whole nine yards. A couple of weeks ago I added a window A/C to my garage so I could detail my car in the summer.

All of that said, I'm sure I don't have near the skills of a real pro, and I often don't have the time I would like to have to do a full detail.

I hope to be there. I haven't been in probably 5 or 6 months.

I've been having wicked bad allergies, so one week I'm fine and the next I'm extremely tired and feel weak. Which is the case this week. I'm taking shots now, so I hope to start feeling the positive effects of them in the next few weeks.

Just moved here from Seattle... there, I used a mixture of service companies and myself. In Austin, it looks like it'll be more my job unless this site points to qualified exotic detailers that owners are happy with.
