Took delivery of her at 1:30am this morning. Transporters got here in the middle of the night and wanted to know if I wanted to wait until morning for delivery. Needless to say, my neighbors are probably pissed that I allowed them to deliver at 1:30am LOL

Anyway...I was folding the top down and putting the leather cover over it and had a question. This is for the 348 Spider by the way. The back middle part of the leather cover isn't completely flush with the car. This is due to how the top is folding down. Specifically, as I pull the handle to lock it in place, the window is bowing outward and while folding up it is creating a little bit of bulge. In other words, the plexiglass window is folding outward like this ) as it closes rather than in like this (. The manual really doesn't show how it should fold and I don't necessarily want to force it to fold in the other way for fear of damaging the plexiglass.

Sooooo, should the leather cover be completely flush with the car at the very back or is it ok to have a samll gap due to the bulge from the top/plexiglass?

My 335 does not have a gap and when i remove it, there are marks left behind on the paint where the cover was hitting. This is due to the wind moving the cover and eventually it will probably leave permanent marks. so, bottom line, you are probably better off having the gap....

If I remember correctly on my 348 spider, the plexiglass was folded inward, any other owners chime in? Congrats on your purchase by the way.

Congrats on the safe delivery/reception....post pics when you get a chance, of both the situation you are describing as well as the car in general.

My plastic window bulges outwards like you describe. I carefully fold it down to bow inwards, and then put the cover on. I have noticed that I have to keep up with the plastic polish, and that the cover also doesn't really lay flat, but has a bit of a bowl shape to it. No problems with it though.

My window wants to bow out also and that's the way I always left it untill one of our cars and coffee events I was shown to push the window in and the top lays much flatter.

My top does the exact same thing. It doesn't seem to be a problem. Congratulations on your new car.

Those are some nice looking houses. I have relatives and friends in Plano and they look very similar...

As stated fold the plastic window inward down on itself it might be tricky at first but once you get it will be easy. The top will lay perfectly flat then, also suggest adding a button snap to the middle of your cover near engine bay trust me this will come in handy at speed.

    Mike,
Congratulations on joining us, I also have a Spider and the window bows out slightly leaving a gap exactly the same as your photos. As mentioned, there is a center snap in the back that used to have a velcro strap when the car was new. When I received mine by transport last month I had the more embarassing problem of how to even get the top down, as you know by now you have to push up and pull down the center bar!! It a beautiful car and nothing like a sunny day with the top down. Enjoy every ride and all that comes with it
