Correct me if I'm wrong but it sounds like FOTA is looking to alter the Concorde agreement (ie: get more money from FOM). Or it could, of course, just be another bargaining stance.

I wouldn't be surprised if FOTA has already agreed to something tentative with FOM.... how else could they all commit until 2012? The issues are revenue splits, rules, and governance. Seems like they are agreeing to enter if they can have a moratorium on rules for '10, revenue split is anyone's guess, and governance is the big question mark.

If Mosley accepts the entries, isn't he, in some way, agreeing with the teams assertion that they *are* F1?

They have put him in mate though... time will tell if it's checkmate or not. If he doesn't accept the entries, he either kills F1 or he makes himself unelectable in a few months... if he does accept them, he has been castrated.

The missing link is what the deal is between FOM and FOTA. Bernie is an opportunist... IMO he would gladly hop into bed with the teams against the FIA if it suited him at the moment.

Bernie, an opportunist? The man thinks only of the good of the sport. Of course in his mind what's good for Bernie is good for F1:)
No doubt the FOTA/FOM talks are at an advanced stage but anything can happen.
Its not just Max's guile that's kept him where he is all these years. IMO he serves as lightening rod/distraction allowing Bernie (and now FOTA) to appear reasonable by contrast. He'll stay as long as he suits their purpose. Remember FOTA and FOM bring in money Max does not.

Probably right, although I made an easy prediction for positions 19-20 in this year's championship for a team who had a horrendous year in 2008, watched their only source of income wave goodbye and were saddled with drivers who were well past their prime. ;)

If they keep running increasingly amidst sand dunes as the trend has been lately they could be faster than the Space Shuttle and I would not go to see them. I've done it twice and it sucked so profoundly that I will never go again. Throwing pearls to swine was all that I could think of. And that is MY point.

That is possible but I suspect the audience would be largely new. After all, the race is just one part of the trip when one travels thousands of miles to get there. And I really wonder how TV broadcast is gonna work with only a handful of spectators on the track watching the winner splashing the podium with his carton of orange juice...

Hey Is. I hope I'm not right. It will definitely be fun finding out though. :)

I too made the same prediction about the same team...with the catchy song. ;) However I neglected to take in account the brilliance of a certain team owner and a years worth of development with Honda's enormous budget.

Hmm, I take it you didn't like the Middle East.

Oddly enough I have made similar observations when going to more traditional F1 venues in Europe. Let's face it: A lot of F1 fans are just plain morons. We (as F1 fans) might think of ourselves as sophisticated etc, but the reality is, that it isn't Carnegie Hall or the Louvre.
