Correction ........ (here comes the scorn :D ;) )......... the 355 is a HUGE step forward in engine performance from the 348 ........ so much that the same basic engine is used by the 360 and the CS ........ changes being 2mm crank stroke to go 3.6L .... along with variator driven exhaust cams and a variable intake runner manifold. The 355 is a huge bargain at any of these current prices ............ and had it not been for the wacky factory exhaust design ..... it would be worth twice the 348 ......... :D! IMO the 355 is the best of both worlds ........ it has the beautiful wedge lines started by the 308-288GTO ..... classic interior ....... and the only V8 to have injected individual throttle bodies :D ......... once sorted ...... the engine it is truly a work of art ..... and sounds like it as well ........

There are just too many 360's out there, and prices are heading down through $70k. That's the hammer driving 355 prices down.

There may not be many GTS' out there, but they are a pain in the butt. Remember Jeremy Clarkson admitting what a huge mistake he'd made getting his?? About the only plus is that it's rollover protection for the track, but -- sorry -- most buyers are leery of regularly tracked cars. Most people looking for track cars these days want paddles, too...

Having said that, I hate red cars, but I love yours. It's a beauty. I hope you find a buyer. I bought my 355 a year ago, and figured I'd lose $10k the first year. Looks like I was half right. Add in the service and some cosmetics, and it turned out to be a pretty expensive toy. Now there's a surprise - Ferraris aren't cheap to own!

Realistically, once these cars hit $45k you gotta stop and think... mediocre new midrange sedans are there, and so are Japanese luxury coupes. Sorry, but I'd rather own a 355 with 20k on the clock than a BMW or Nissan.

I think it's quite plausible that the 355 could dip to the $45K level for decent examples by this coming winter. If you think things are slow now...wait until the first cold snap.

I don't think the 348-355 vs 308-328 is a good analogy. 328's win out for lot's of reasons. Drive a 308 QV and then a 328 plus production #'s, and technical improvements and you have a clear stand out. The 348-355 relationship is different in many ways. 348's make up for horsepower by a visceral experience. As a group we should try to hold our pricing up! Things will get better, eventually, and adjust like Ferrari's have shown to do.

Me too, I keep putting money into my Ferrari shoe box every paycheck. I have nothing but time, and it has been fun reading up on these cars and talking with people here about the ferrari experience. The only thing that really gets me about the 355 is the engine out service, for some reason that scares me a bit.

lol, at least I made that the last photo and not the title pic.

The car was used in a calendar shoot a couple of years ago. That is actually on of the amatuer shots that was taken by a friend, I've got another 30 or so of the pro shots but I will save those for the new owner. :)

I closed the deal on a 2003 575M yesterday. Amazing machine but I will miss the GTS just the same. Just wish I had the time and space and money to keep them all ...

Interesting thread. All my life I wanted a Ferrari. My family is from that area of Italy and many are still there. I was through the factory long before I owned one. 7 years ago I put my mind to looking for a 355. I had researched the different 8 cylinder F-cars for a long time before I decided to hunt down a 355. The difference between the 348 and 355 is a lot more than 7 digits. The difference is like night and day. There is no comparison at all. Now and then I see a fine example of a 348 and I say nice car but when I see a nice example of a 355.....No comparison at all. Anyway it took me 2 years to find the 355 I wanted and in that time the cars on average dropped 20gs Canadian. I was happy that they dropped as it was money in my pocket. This will be the 6th summer of driving that baby and Im now 51 years old. I was 46 when I bought it and yes I could have waited for prices to drop some more but then the better examples of the 355 would only get thinner as they got older. The one I have is simply magnificent and I wouldnt trade it or sell it for anything. For years now I have been reading in here about prices dropping and people waiting so they can get a cheaper 355 or 348 but when its all said and done, you are only loosing driving time at a younger age. The price is what it is. If it is higher or lower means nothing. Some posters in here said that they would jump into a 355 when it was below 100Gs and then 70Gs.....So many procrastinate about buying and never do because they just are not cheap enough yet. One can keep waiting. They may or may not get cheaper but one thing is for sure......We all only have a certain amount of summers to enjoy driving these cars and that number never gets lower. I know many that have money and just buy when they want the car not when they think its low enough. These people are enjoying the car while they can. What Im saying here is ........Who gives a rats ass about the price yesterday, today or next year......If you want to enjoy the car then do it now. If you dont have enough money to own one at these prices then you probably wouldnt be able to service the car anyway.

Husker had a super clean 348 for sure. My 355 GTS was priced right with wrong timing. This market is a buyers (deal seekers) and unless someone is cash strapped F cars dont get stolen. GTS is rarest of them all and has always brought the premium, but this "recovery" is sucking the air out of almost everything. I do know that needing a service is a mark, but it is a great time to negotiate a deal with a shop on service!

I can't help but concur all I've heard on this thread. I'm new to buying a 355 but no stranger to the markets. I'm a good listener and watcher.

I've never been rich, but I amassed moderate wealth selling Brioni, Zilli, Kiton, and Borrelli Clothing. The same guy buying $7K-50K suits are the same guys buying $100K plus autos. I sold discounted shelf pulls to and they are typically guys just like myself buying the hand-me downs (so to speak) of the incredibly rich.

I can tell you wholeheartedly I stopped working altogether last November after the "CHANGE" I knew was coming. The markets had already plummeted and my business took hits from July 08 on in. I got out in November and saved myself a lot of work and even more money. The buyers are hell and gone across the board on luxuries fella's and a Ferrari is a luxury.

I am one of the blessed few that's looking to pay cash for a decent 355. There's not a lot of us, but many are parting with their prized goods. It's a sad truth, but we are nowhere near the bottom. The dow right now is a big facade about to bust again. Why else is gold on the rise? This time next year gold will be $1600 or more an oz. and the dow will again be down in the mid 6's or worse. My prediction based on debts, inflation, bailouts, new taxes, and healthcare. (I'm not trying to make this political by any means, I don't like either party!). Unfortunately desperation dictates & manipulates markets-ALL OF THEM! It's a crying shame I'm impatient.

My post isn't meant to offend. And for those who are secure, count your blessings and remember it can happen to all of us. It's a lot like property: "If you are replacing yours with another, don't be so depressed yours isn't worth what it was, the piece your wanting isn't either". You love your 355 and aren't desperate to sell it, you need not worry about the value. The true value is your love and appreciation for what you got...THE BEST DAMN FERRARI EVER!

Anybody got any advice or comments on this one I'm looking at? I'm seriously considering it...

    -Tony
