We recieved our 2007 F430 Spider in March of 2008. Just the way it worked out. I was hoping it was going to be a 2008 - but no cigar. In fact the car that came in a week before it was a 2008. We must have gotten a slower boat..

Of course they do. However, I believe that barring some other factor, the "model year" is the year in which the car was built. That's not always the case for other manufacturers.

Your car will be a 2009 if you get the car in 2009 nov i think yoiu had said.

Unlike most GM, Ford, MB, BMW, etc....

Fearri sticks to model year in the fiscal year.

So only way to get your 599 as a 2010 if it has a build date not a ship date of 2010.

So if you really want a 2010 take a Jan Production date.

Perhaps I don't understand what you're saying, but I think the statement is reversed - the model year, for the US, can be the same year or the year after the car in question was built. But it's not always the case for other countries - not manufacturers. If a manufacturer makes car that are road legal in the United States, that manufacturer is required to designate model years; if that same manufacturer makes cars for other countries - like just about anywhere in Europe - the model year for that car is the year it was built.

For instance, see the VIN below. The 10th digit, an N, says that this car is a 1992 model. But the date of production, November 1991, clearly shows that the car was built two months before 1992. If this car were made for the European market, the eighth digit would've been a B, and the ninth, 10th and 11th digits would all be zeroes.

I agree, the 599's exhaust is quite soft compared to the 430's.

Now you are talking!!!! Personally I opted for the HGTE pack and the F430 successor.

Now your tempting me to order the HGTE!! If I don't end up with a Scud I will be getting the 430 replacement as well in the second year of production. (I never by the first model year)......well, almost never : )

Congratulations! There's nothing quite like sitting down with a Ferrari options list and placing your order.

If you have not seen the Ferrari factory show on 599 build, check it out on National Geographic channel or youtube. There is also some F430 build footage in the show as well.

As far as your Bose system goes, just make sure all the radio sound control options are unlocked and available to you when car is delivered.

Forget the HGTE as it is a waste of money unless you intend to track the car. As an option, If you must, get the Novitec or Edo anti sway bars and springs for a total investment around $4,500 and get the same benefit while saving over $15,000. Otherwise, don't touch it, just stick the manettino on Race and all your problems will be solved as you will be in driving nirvana!
    Just one man's opinion.

Congratulations, whic of the three black exterior colors did you choose?
You may find you're indifferent to the Bose and parking sensors when it arrives

Have you actually driven a 599? The parking sensors are very, very useful.

I wouldn't order it without them. When test drove the car last month it was obvious that they will making parking a MUCH easier task.

Back to the topic, I agree with you donv, the parking sensors are a must have. I find the front sensors far more useful than the back ones. I often find myself using them to detect curbs I can't quite see or to go up winding multi-storey carpark ramps.

Park sensors are a must if you use it, I agree. Help with low ramps too.
Bose is fine, there is thread here covering the "easter egg" that lets you tune the crossovers, all other kinds of tweaks. Really great when you can tailor it that way, change surround depth, etc. Enjoy it, really great car.

Re the Bose. I yanked it and replaced it with a Clarion head unit with Sirius Sat Radio. It's all I listen to. I can't figure out why high end car makers still deliver cars with last century audio technology.

The Bose is a rather pitiful unit - cumbersome to use and requiring special knowledge to get into a tone control mode. All you need is a treble and bass adjustment. It's just a car stereo after all. For serious music you really should be sitting in a comfortable chair surrounded by audiophile equipment. Your very fast car is not the place to be distracted by a great sound system.

Not true. Ferrari does model years. The model year is contained within the VIN number

ape doing the jump from a 430 to a 599, the sensors are vital for parking....I can't tell you how much bigger the nose is...the back side is easier to get used to but the front side WILL get dinged without them
