Did any of you guys entertain or even already use a film/ vinyl/ protectant for the hard to find original Carello turn signals on your 308?

Recently I thought of maybe using a super clear vinyl adhesive that I bought for my Vette to protect its turn lamps and then cutting it to shape of my 308 lens? Not a huge deal, but maybe worth the effort which might help save the original Carellos.

Just wondering on thoughts or use by fellow owners.

    Mike.

Good idea but they are not really hard to find. Rutlands has them in stock.

It is still something we should do, though

The OP is interested in protecting the "original" Carello lenses. I believe those that are available form the usual sources are reproductions. Side by side they are not the same.

Right, the most available ones are repros - hence my thoughts.

I am looking for the same thing to protect my 328 front lights (very hard to find in case of damage) !
    Haven't found anything yet...

We put it on the various fog lights all the time but the problem with the turn signal lenses is that there are raised numbers on the outer surface and the plastic will not lay down without large unsightly air pockets around it. You could sand them smooth and polish the surface but that defeats the purpose of keeping the originals.

I see few of the plastic lenses broken by rocks. Mine are naked. If they break I'll just get the replacements. Besides the guy I know that makes dupes, you cannot tell they are not original.

Here is another thought, take the real ones off and put the repros on.

You can always swap back for a show or something

Go to www.lamin-x.com and order a 6" x 12" sheet of 40 mil clear film. Cut it to fit the lights and stick it on.
