Wondering what everyone here does for tyres. Priced a set of replacement Michelin PS2's for my 996 turbo ... $3500. Price from US (www.tirerack.com) including shipping, GST, customs is approx $2500. My tyre guy says that's way less than his cost. Anyone else get theirs from overseas?

Will they have the australian approval code stamped on the sidewall? Might be an insurance issue if not.

Shipping for a set is approx $200USD. They don't handle getting them in but from what I had read its just a matter of paying the duties/taxes when they arrive so they can be released for delivery. I guess they probably wouldn't have an australian approval code though.

I wouldn't be so sure, because it's a specialty tire (and the limited demand for them in Australia) Michelin might manufacture the same tyre for all markets, and hence carry the required markings. Only a close up picture would tell.

When you say "one at a time", if you received 4 separate boxes from the same source on one day, that wouldn't work, would it? So what time frame stagger is legitimate?

No to question 1. As per Customs site
To be honest I have never tried it but you would prob give it at least a week to be safe. A friend was looking at this option for rims from the states.

Use sea freight, far cheaper than air freight but you'll have a lead time of about 4 weeks.

If you use someone like DHL they will use one of their partners for this such as Danzas,

Also, tyres are tyres are far as customs will value them, create a proforma invoice attach the way bill and off you go :)

I bought a set in for my 996 couple years back and it was no probs all the way.

On the subject of tyres, have a set of speedline 355CH wheels with tyres that I need to get from the UK - will look around for shipping costs but any suggestions on who to use (sea freight is fine if cheaper)

I guess I'd find a general shipping broker in UK and put on a ship, tell them no hurry to get cheaper rate?

I have the Michelin Pilot Super sports now.
    Need something slightly softer.
Considering the Pirelli Pzero or Pzero PZ4
