Interesting, just had a look at the BBS link and the RE wheel, and then compared with a pic of my challenge wheel and its quite differant. Yes its a similar style, but then there are many wheels in this style.
When I had a Porsche Turbo I noticed the wheels where made by BBS...they obviously do make many wheels for OEM vehicles, but Im wondering if they are not actually allowed to make the exact same wheels for sale seperately, as surely this would prevent the manufacturers such as ferrari & Porsche charging huge amounts for aftermarkets

I checked with a BBS dealer and they do not have any wheels to fit Ferraris even though they make wheels for the factory.

When a wheel manufacturer such as BBS produces a specific wheel for an auto manufacturer like Ferrari or Porsche that wheel is licensed to the auto manufacturer and typically not sold aftermarket.

God, I love your car! That colour is just so perfect for the elegant & aggressive 612 lines.

Thanks Sean, yes I am very fortunate to own my car, all personal taste of course but I do think the Silverstone, challenge wheels & yellow bits is the best combo. Still trying to sort out some decent weather & time to get a full portfolio of pics done. Got a Nikon D3 with various top notch lenses...wide angle/fish eye etc, so I should be able to capture some good ones in & out around the Yorkshire dales. Was up in the lake district at weekend, beautiful scenery, but plonker I am left my camera at home!
Anyway back to this thread...I have never driven another 612 ie older one, so pray tell Mazza, what are the big differances?.
I always feel a bit agrieved that all the road tests etc all seem to hark back to 2004 etc when the car was released, I would love to see Top gear or the likes test a new 1 -2- 1 ...it amazing that the car is so fresh 5 years on

where do i start...firsly 2006 was a solid black colour,it was hard work, you had to always polish it to look it,s best.it had the standerd wheels but it still a magnifecent motor car,the 2008 1 2 1 is just so much more FERRARI
This might be strange but the body even looks different,It might be that this car is the black metalic with the 20 inch ball polished challenge wheels. the suspension is tighter and much stiffer. The F1-SuperFast gear box is SUPER FAST.I think that,s how they shave .2sec of 0-100km\h in just 4 sec..the panoramic roof is a fabulous addition..not a gret fan of the bose in - car entertainment sysyem, and why sat/nav does,nt work in australia is just crazy!! and allmost forgot carbon brakes are very responsive.I drive all day and very little brake dust... ENGINE START Button and the manettino switch is a real buzzzzz!!!! I will post photo,s of both cars and you make up your own mind up... soon...

...get some up soon. Must admit when I picked mine up they had a brand spanking new black one in the showroom with the brown leather with the silver prancing horses embossed , 20" challenge wheels & silver wing mirrors, have to say it looked the mutts nuts.
Its nice to have you verify I made the right choice..cost me a lot mor £££££ than my budget was to go for a sept 08 1 -2 -1, but your helping me justify it. Agree the roof/start button/SF and 20" challenge wheels make the car sooo much tastier.
I agree also the body somehow looks differant on the later cars, I just put it down to the 20" challenge wheels making the car sit better.
Like I said get those pics up & put em in a seperate thread like I have so we can go straight to them all!

Lug pattern from above is 5x108

From above they are mounting 20x8.5 and 20x10 wheels.

...absolutely stunning Mazza, loving that interior too. Its amazing what differance the wheels make, I just dont understand why Ferrari released the 612 with those awful small star spoke wheels on, they totally change the look of the car. I bought the Autocar roadtest from 2004 couple of days back, and the car in the test looks awful, in fact they loved the car performance & driveability wise, but everybody totally slated its looks, and I must say the car in the test looked awful in silver with star alloys. I put 80% of that down to the wheels...I would love them to test the 'new' model.
Anyway, as someone said to me your new car deserves its own thread, so go set one up & post loads of pics of your beauty...cheers

Wheels do seem to make quite a difference to the look of any Ferrari. My 612 has the HGTC Pack and the wheels go quite well with the Celeste Metallic colour.

599 rear Challenge wheels are 11" wide, and sport 305mm wide tires. 612 rear Challenge wheels are 10" wide, and sport 285mm wide tires.

Anyone install the 599-sized rear wheels and tires on a 612? Any clearance issues?

Doug (Champagne612) has 599 rear wheels on his car and they fit perfectly. Offsets are such that 1/2 inch of wheel is on the inside and 1/2 inch on the outside, so absolutely no clearance issues. 12.7 mm is exactly 1/2 inch.
