    Hi Fchatters,

    My seatbelts retract very poorly.

Following a previous post on this site I visited the Delorean website and compared their seatbelts as pictured with those in my 1984 Australian 308 QV.They also appear to be a match with US spec 308 GTB/Si cars.

For all intents and purposes they appear to be identical. Has any fellow Fchatter actually used these Delorean parts and was the company supplying them okay to deal with?

    Thanks

    Pete

Thought I had one on the shelf but I do not.

You can not photograph in a DeLorean because the unit is behind the rear trim panel.

We have them in our warehouse in Texas but this is the best picture I have for now.

There are more parts shared between the 308 and the Delorean than just the seat belt.....a few Bosch FI items are also common. Since there's more interest in putting Deloreans back on the road these days, its definitely worth looking into their parts supplies for common Bosch part numbers.

This same Klippan belt style was used in a number of different cars of the era, including a couple of Fiats.

In my case, the female part of one of my OEM buckles was broken (plastic bit by the orange release button broken off), so I was well pleased when I found the same style of female buckle as fitted to a Fiat for cheap.

Only to discover that the overall wire cable length of these belts is car-specific.

Can you please measure a Delorean female buckle assembly and advise the distance from the centerline of the attachment bolt hole on one end to the extreme outside of the plastic buckle part on the other?

This dimension will vary depending on the car, and so if you wish to use a Delorean-spec one in a Ferrari, best to check first before you are disappointed when the length is perhaps found to be too long / too short.

    Thanks and Cheers - DM

    P.S. - Hey Pete, how's it goin'?

The plastic on my driver's side receiver broke and after a long hunt for a Ferrari part, I replaced my driver receiver belt with a used DeLorean part. It is almost identical, the only difference being 1" shorter than the original. Now that I've used it for some time, it's difficult to remember the difference and if you weren't told, you wouldn't note the physical appearance difference between passenger and driver's side receiver. There is a Texas DL dealer offering the complete set (one side top and bottom) for about $130 as I recall. I got my used lower end for about $40.
