Looking at the myriad of threads on here about FOTA, FIA, Bernie etc, I figured maybe some people have too much time on their hands or are just listening way too much to news stories.

So let me tell you what is happening with F1:

    1) There will be no breakaway series
    2) The teams will find a compromise with Mad Max and sign the Concorde agreement.
    3) Ferrari will not leave F1
    4) Some manufacturers will probably leave F1 and be replaced by "garagistes" teams
    5) "Garagistes" teams will fill up the field to 26 cars minium next year
    6) F1 will continue to be the most watched sport on this planet
    7) F1 cars will continue to have the shortest lap times around a road course
    8) Brawn will win the WCC and Button the WDC this year
    9) The recession will end in Q3/09 and the economy will turn (at least in the US, Europe has about a 6 month lag). Sponsors will continue to pour money into the teams.
    10) If Ferrari is really lucky, they just might get 60 points to match their car's description. This is the prediction I'm the least confident about. :)

    Simple, isn't it?

Wonderful thread. I would agree with you on ALL your predictions except:

    6) I thought soccer, or "futball" was the most watched sport on TV in the world, slightly ahead of videos of sportiing directors in orgies with other people's wives,
then followed by F1 in third.

    and

    8) I don't see the recession in the US ending nationally until Q2 of 2010, and world wide until Q1 of 2011.

And yes, until I move in late July, I have way too much time on my hands.

    Thank you!

Soccer only attracts more viewers than F1 when there is the World Cup. Same goes for the Olympics. Both events happen every 4 years.

    ad 8)
We're almost there. Lots of economic indices are already pointing in the right direction. You're way too pessimistic. The recovery will be slow, but the turning point is next quarter.

BTW: I think it is no coincidence that you agree with me: We both have been following F1 for decades and seen the current FIAsco many times before. Nothing new and nothing to get hung about. Even when the separatists movement reached fever pitch with the "pirate races" in 82, cooler heads (read monetary interests) prevailed and brought the arguing children back to the table.

When I read this, suddenly the vision of Ecclestone, Mosley, and diMontezemelo with adult heads and children's bodies in knickers dancing came to me. Great description.

Either the shrimp I had tonight is causing hallucinations, or I took one too many Celebrex for my back today.

This is so wrong in so many ways. I may be afraid to sleep tonight.

(nothing to get hung about....what song is that from? Strawberry Fields?)

Well, that's what they all are. Probably one of the richest disfunctional families in the world, but in the end they will always hang together, because that's the only way they know and that's what keeps them in power and in the money.

    Right on!

I'm going to agree with you there. I may put it longer if oil continues its climb. Oh and by the way it should be #9 not 8. :) I know lazy days give lazy eyes.

You may be in for a big surprise Ronnie. F1 will be finished next year or shortly after unless the Nazi and his sidekick Ecclshlt leave soon.

I did not make these predictions.

His name is Andreas. Not Ronnie.

My name is Ron. Actually, that is not my legal name, but I can't pronounce my legal name. It's not Ronnie. I wish.

I just agreed to most of Andreas' predictions.

Why you may ask? I know his background and involvement with motor sports. He knows mine. I would bet he knows much more than you about F1.

And since I agree with Andreas, it is you that I believe will have the surprise. Or disappointment.

We'll see, said the blind men.

    Uh...yes.....you are correct. #9, because I agree with #8.

My mistake. If I remember, I had a case of flatulence just before I wrote my post.

    That's my excuse Charles.

And I just got off the phone with a petroluem supplier, prediction, crude $80/bbl and gas over $3.75-$4.00/ gallon by year end. If I could only convert that flatulence.

IMO, as long as Max and Bernie are not involved, whatever happens will be great. If Max and Bernie are still involved, we all continue to lose.

    Excellent post.

My personal belief is that for number 10, Ferrari will toss in the towel and put all resources to 2010. They will finish with one of it's worst performances since the 80's. Also, Kimi will not be back and he will be told in a few races.

One other prediction is that McLaren will lose Mercedes and they will jump ship to Brawn/Virgin as their primary team to support in the future. Why? Faster, better, cheaper. Brawn can give them more bang for the buck.

Please Clint, one post without mentioning their names? Besides, if Andreas' predeictions come true, it will not matter who is in charge, and we will have a great series next year. Try to enjoy!

I predict I have too much time on my hands :) Super!!

I predict something will happen today and it wont affect me much or make the sport much better.

I predict whatever happens its about the money and until the manufacturers take control they get what they get and possibly what they deserve. If they stay with this dysfuntional management and commercial system they certainly dont deserve our respect!

It's great to think positive and all but #9 is way off. We are heading for a further decline. This is going to be about a 15 year recession because Obama and many State Goverments want to tax corporations and rich folks more before things are stable. There are more jobs that are being axed and nothing in sight to fuel growth. The US government now has a 12 Trillion dollar defecit, the Treasury is printing money to no end, and there is not enough tax money coming in. California will be insolvent in less than 50 days and this is going to create another panic.

Also, I think F1 is hurt by this no matter what the outcome is. Now sponsors are going to truly think twice about the sparse advertising funds of theirs and were to put it. If F1's future is shaky why would you take a risk? It was not a very smart move by Mad Max and Bernie Napolean.

    Hold on Ron...

You flame those who use derogatory terms instead of using their proper names but yet you're flame me for using their proper names??? I guess with you I lose either way. Kinda like the fans lose either way as long as MAX and BERNIE are at the helm.

I made that parallel up all by myself...with your help of course. :)

Like his "brother" Max. It's obvious that George was doing a great job and everyone supported him because he was in office for the maximum time of a president.....right ? ;)

Just like if W. stayed in power as president for another term it wouldn't have mattered...things would work out fine. ;)

Sorry but IMO it will not matter as soon as Max is "not" in charge.

Btw, this is not meant to be a Political post.

The FOTA idea of the compromise between all involved, FIA/FOM/FOTA, is to establish regulations as to how any new rules will be established in the future. The FIA want budget caps, FOTA wants stable rules and fair process to establish new rules, FOM wants a Concorde and continued revenue. I am of course assuming that all three will get what they want. If this is the case, the biggest complaint against the FIA/Mosley, his arbritrary imposition of new rules, will not exist with a new Concorde, etc. There will be guidelines to prevent what we have watched over the last 2-3 years. I really doubt FOTA will agree to anything less than a better system of rules in exchange for some sort of budget caps.

So even if Max continues, which I doubt, under this scenario which is the only one that will keep the three groups as one, Max is no longer a threat to the teams. That is why I state again, no matter who is in charge, if Andreas' predictions come true, we will have a great F1 series next year.

Actually, I was just being lite with you, apparently not clear, sorry. Also, I am not flaming anyone that uses derrogatory names, if I have, sorry, but show me where I specifically flame anyone so I can apologize.

But in reality now that the door is open, I would love to see posts here that have more substance than just slamming Mosley and Ecclestone without making any positive suggestions. OK great, get rid of them, now what? I would love to see some real ideas proposed, because getting rid of these two will not fix one of the biggest problems facing F1 in the future, and that is maintaining a full grid in spite of the economy.

With all the bickering between the FIA and FOTA regarding the regulations for next season, what has this done to the design for the 2010 F1 Cars if FOTA doesn't get its way?
