    Anyone caught with a laser jammer in California? I know they are illegal, but was wondering what happens if you actually get caught with one by an officer. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

    I have thoroughly researched this matter. The CA statute states that four or more laser diffusers can result in a misdemeanor. Three or less units can result in a citation (ticket). I have yet to see someone cited for this violation. In the interest of playing it safe, I limit my cars to two diffusers in the front, and one in the rear.

    Hi Tim,
    I have been looking for something to mitigate laser detection, can you let us know;
    If they work i.e. have you had the "privilege" of being hit with a laser and got away with it
    Are they visible to the police?
    Where someone might find them.

    My trusty Valentine 1 warns of Laser but as I understand it, its too late once you get nailed and the laser warning is basically an early warning that you are about to meet a law enforcement officer. So far the only method that I have heard of to diffuse laser energy is to flood the front and rear of the vehicle with IR light.
    Thanks for your help.

    I pretty much have the same set up at Tim and yes it works. PM K-diddy here at Fchat and he can answer a lot of your questions. Kevin did the install on mine and Tim's cars. :)

    Do you guys have a switch in your cars that can toggle the jammers on and off?

    I did in my CS but not in my new car. It's a pretty good feature though. :)

    The escorts automatically switch off laser shifting after a few seconds (for legal reasons as I understand it). but long enough for you to react. basically the cops gets no reading on the first hit, but the second hit will be hot (so they wont suspect anything). hopefully you've checked your speed by then. I also run 3 shifters to stay legal (in NV). Except for the rear they're pretty concealed, you'd have to take the bumper and/or grill off to see them. No problems in 4 years.

    Aside from the auto shutoff you can hit the power off on the remote.

    I seem to remember a Bond movie where he goes "and what is this button?" and Q freaks out.

    I am actually looking for a new unit myself.

    The escort 9500 ci has a mute switch and when you get hit with laser you need to first adjust your rate of speed then tap the mute switch 2 times and this turns off the shifters for sixty seconds then the shifters automatically come back on.... During this time the shifters will still detect so you will know what the cop is doing. (the mute button is in the center of the controller)

    Hi. Can someone please tell me how much a setup like this will cost? Also, how can you even test if it works after you first installing it? Just speed like there is no tomorrow till you find a cop?

    the parts run $1600.00 the labor depends on who is doing it on what car and how it is installed. We test the system with a handheld device that transmits k/ka/laser bands allowing us to test the system without driving the car.
