I have gone through several English roadsters from MG TD to a couple of E-types and XK150 even an XJ. That was after in grew out of the Corvette fascination. I am now 59 and hiding in the woods and purchased my first F-car. I found one the guy said he had to get rid of because of a divorce and it looked good. I noticed the miss at idle right off the get go and even redlined the engine through the gears and it sounded great. I can't have a miss at idle so I decided to start with the comp/leak down and sure enough one dead hole. Does anyone tell the truth anymore? Not a big deal , want to detail it anyway. My point-finally-----------Is that they must build the car around the engine!!! It is my first F-car extraction (and I'm not 25 anymore) but at least #125. I read about an extraction (first time) done in 5-6 hrs. ----------------r-i-g-h-t-.. I just got it on the stand after 19hrs. of serious wrenching. My hats off to Marannello on their metalergy though, evrey bolt and nut cane off with the expected amount of torque. I do appreciate all the info here, it has helped a great deal; sorry to say it was most effective after the act. Going back in will be a good day. Any suggestions on the best source/price on parts? 59 year young and still wrenching? I hope I can still do the same when I get there. Here's a post of the Ferrari part supplies:

I'm new to Ferrari and start buying part from them one by one. Some are better than other in term of pricing, or part quality, or services...

Next time remove the engine bonnet and remove it out the top.

hihi - your car will enjoy your bonding time and you will quickly learn about soul. There are many of suppliers depending on needs but know that your local Ferrari dealer is at the bottom of the list and can't find it elsewhere. While in there plan on changing out every hose you see on the engine but including those fore/aft radiator and brake vacuum boost.

    Paul,
The engine comes out the bottom on the Mondial, the only way on a 308 is through the top. Unless of coarse you were making a ha ha! Cheers

I have been using Ricambi and am quite happy. Do talk on the phone with them as they will give additional useful information.
