At the big house (Where high levels of noise was never an issue), I had both a set of electronic & conventional drums. I sold the electronic set to buy a conventional set and then wish I had both to integrate! It was REALLY nice with the elec set with headphones when others were present who did not wish to hear the drums. Almost a toss-up IMO, as both had their advantages.

i had the previous top line V-Session with the upgrade card,. Good sound, very flexable, feels ALMOST real and the cymbals sound impresive (for electronic drums). i HATE the new high-hat tho on the TD-20. If you HAVE TO go electronic, the Rolands are very good. Once i could play real drum a few months back, due to sound issues no longer being a problem, am now playing the below set. Real drums are real, electronic drums, for me, as just ak thing. In fact i even SOLD the V-Session instead of doing acoustic/electric 'in the round' as have done in the past.

    Tama Stewart Copeland Signature Set
    5" x 14" Copeland Signature SD
    22" x 18" Bass drum

Sound Disk Set 1, 3 and 5 (suspended)
9" Rotosound, number 1 (not on the drum set, still waiting for proper rotoclamp)
    11", 12", 13", 14" and 15" extra thin percussion cymbals
    5", 5.5", 6.5", 7.5" and 8" five piece Cup Chime set
    4", 6", 8" Accent cymbals (two each)
    9.25" X 13.25", number 2 Sound Plate
    7", 10", 13" and 20" Accent Gongs

    LP Percussion
    Aspire LP 190 tambourine
    Black Beauty Sr. cow bell
    Rock Ridge Ride cow bell
    LP450 bell tree (personally 'customized')
    Granite Blocks (five, tuned)

FYI: am more a percussionist, yet yes can rock out to Zep, Rush, Flower Kings, King Crimson, etc. Am just about to start doing a 24-bit/192 percussion recording/album and have three labels (one Grammy-winning) enquiring about marketing/distributing it.

While I can't offer you skills for compensation, I can direct you to an amazing video of Thomas Lang on the TD-20.

One of my favorite drummers -- unbelievable. (notice the paradiddles with his feet..)
