We went out the other evening in the Testarossa and were the unfortunate recipients of a "flyover' which I missed upon returning home and didn't see until the next morning. I used a microfiber towel and some spray from a Quick Detailer thinking that this would take care of the problem. I was wrong?
Apparently whatever the birds are eating these days is pretty strong stuff because it appears to have left a small "etching" or stain where the mess used to be on my hood. The paint is still glossy and looks great from above but when looking at it from an angle it is more visible. I then tried a bit of P21 Polish with no luck.
I was hoping that some of you out there might have some ideas about what I could use to try and fix this problem. Hard to believe that this could have happened so fast when the car didn't even sit out in the hot sun? It was probably only on there for about 12 hours before I began working on the problem. I would be grateful for any ideas! Thanks and take care.

That acid etches quickly, washing with water immediately would have diluted the acid. Anyway call Griots the auto detail supply guys, they have a phone number and give great advice, i am sure u may have something at home that they will tell u to use, i have called them and they love giving advice and they dont try and sell u. but make sure u tell them its a ferrari so they dont think they are dealing with a chevy (no offense to chevy guys)

    Dear Member,

My Bmw was covered with bird dropping. My 650.. I too tried every polisher and buffing and waxing.. All the brand names Turtle wax, Meguiars and the list went on. Finally a paint job did the trick...

sorry for the bad news... despite all the waxing and buffing its visible... The stain is in the paint...

The acid in the bird poop etches the paint. I beleave as long as it didn't go all the way throught the paint (by your post saying there is still a shine to the area, I asume it didn't) you should be able to have a very compitent paint specialist rub the area with a very fine sand paper and poilish it back up. Obviously you don't want to go too deep or you'll burn through the paint. Can you post a pic? If it is so fine that you can't even notice it except under ideal lighting/angles, to be honest I wouldn't play with it.
