The round ventholes in my Dashmat are too big for the vent flanges, yet properly aligned, so they're OK as-is. I didn't know that the banana-shaped end vents were held in place by these little plastic pins with metal clips...impossible to remove from above w/o breaking, as I found out the hard way.

I did manage to repair the banana vents, and they are now held in place by strips of black adhesive-backed door edge trim I got at Autozone. The vent flanges in turn hold the dashmat down neatly at those points. I have two of the round 1/2" velcro dots positioned about 8" apart up near the intersection of the windshield and dash.

It works great now...I was out on I-30 a couple weeks ago, t-top off & windows down, and hit near 100, very little wind-lift effect. Around town it's fine and cuts that annoying black-dash glare to zip.

Main objectives...cut glare and protect dash from TX summer sun...accomplished. Looks very good as well.

I will be one of his first customers, as I want a set of proper vents to go with the car should I decide to sell it.

Bubba, if you've got a banana vent in one piece laying around in your parts stash, even with the pins/clips broken off, I'm definitely interested.

I tried buying one a few weeks after you got yours and they may have closed. I tried calling them more than once and only got a voice mail recording about their regular business hours.

If so, it was a quick shut-down. My order was taken efficiently and courteously, shipped within a week, fit and color very satisfactory.

Polorised sunglasses work perfectly through the day, although not so good with streetlights (as that is not a polirised light source).

After seeing a few pix of yours and another Fchatter's dashmat, I attempted to order one in late March/early April 09. I called and emailed several times but they never responded. Therefore, I have to go with another product.

I bought one from Ricambi in fall '08, didn't fit at all. Sent it back, got refund promptly & courteously. I called them again in early '09 before ordering the Dashmat, they said they weren't carrying dash covers anymore.

    You might try Italiancarparts.com

Polarized sunglasses. Orange / yellow lenses, so not so dark you cant wear them on overcast days, even OK through the occasional tunnel.

Sure beats gluing a throw rug to your dash.

    The above is old information.

Just installed my new polarized dash mat. It's thin and is attached with seventeen tiny velcro dots.

The nicest thing is - not only can't I see the glare anymore - I can't see the entire dash!

    It's a miracle!

    Cheers!

    p.s. If I wear polarized glasses I can't read this reply. -- and that's a good thing!

I attempted to order from godashmat.com AND from dashmat. Got cryptic email 'message recieved' responses when I had a question, but never any follow up.

Eventually ordered/paid for one from godashmat.com. Waited for 1 month, recontacted, nothing. Left two voice mails, nothing, figured my money was gone. A month later, get an email saying they got my order. Called the number, no response. Finally sent ANOTHER email saying I was going to rescind credit card charge...

Magically got an attempt at courtesy, a follow up to the order via email saying estimated ship date. The girl then told me she was the ONLY ONE in customer service and was a bit behind. After 6 total weeks, got my dash mat (for a 512TR, in 'black suede'. It aint nothing LIKE suede, but its better than carpet. Fit fine.)

Weirder still, two weeks later (yesterday) I got a SECOND mat for the same car. Yep, they charged me twice. I'm not about to attempt sending it back. Would rather offer it to another 512TR owner.

I wouldn't order from them again. Unless you talk to a live human, get their name, AND delivery confirmation right away, I'd be a bit careful, or find another source.

Bottom line - A pain in the patootey to get, but it solved the problem.

I ordered one from Italiancarparts.com. The color I wanted was not in stock so they are having it made for me. I hope to have it in about 3 weeks.

    Best regards,
    Dino

Paul, my 308 house the enclosed "mouse hair" dash. I have "zero" issue with glare as long as I keep the windscreen clean. I highly recommend it!

Sad part...came with the car so I cannot tell you where to get it. The closest I have ever seen is the fabric itself for sale, cannot tell you install price but doubt it is low. From the photos I have seen it is incomparable to the floor-rug-on-the-dash-look I have see.

I'm sure there are other sources but...

I have the dashmat and it works fine, but I usually leave it off unless I'm going to have the car parked outside for any length of time (rare). I usually just used good polarized sunglasses... all the glare disappears.
