Hello there! i'm seeking some help for my F360

I had a problem with the oil pump which one of my mechanic friends has repaired and he has fitted a new cambelt kit and lower front crankcase (the section with the 2 lower pullies for the 2 banks), now the car runs, but you can hear a backfiring through the inlet in the plenum chamber, we "think" the cam timing is out, is there a workshop manual available anywhere? the car is very rough at idle and you can smell it overfueling

this car had problems in the past with the throttle body connections and the MAF sensors too (one of the manifolds started glowing red at idle!)

it gets a hard life (track car) but has been problem free until now!

    any help appreciated!

You will need a dial indicator that threads into #1 and #8 spark plug holes after the plugs are removed. You will need another dial indicator to measure the cam lift on all four cams, one at a time. You will need an ultrasonic belt tension gauge to set the belt tension correctly so you can measure the cam timing correctly. Plus a lot of other little hand tools and torque wrenches. You will also need the factory manual to find the specifications for this prodecure.

You will have to remove the left and right cam covers so you can measure the lift at the cams in relation to the TDC marks you are going to have to place on the crankshaft pully. It is easier to remove the transmission mount subframe first to get the cam covers off.

If you have never degreed cams before I would suggest you find a Ferrari specialist to do this job for you. If you don't get them set correctly not only will the check engine light be coming on eventually but you are going to burn up the cat converters. Possibly exhaust valves and pistons too if they are not already bent.

    You guys thought right! :p:p

I hope no serious engine damage has already been done!!:eek:

Pull it apart and put a degree wheel on it. That will soon tell you where you went wrong. :):)

Lets hope for the best. :):)
