One of my hobbies (aside from cars) is offshore powerboating. I found this awesome video on YouTube showing a 41 Apache (arguably one of the greatest big water deep vee offshore powerboats ever made) being powered by twin 12 cylinder Lamborghini engines. TURN UP YOUR VOLUME! It's sick sounding! :)

Jeffrey: I hate to tell you this but it sounds a bit like the sound your F40 makes, at least from my vantage point a car's length behind you all the way around Laguna Seca...

Somehow I don't think my car could sound that good especially at the speed we were going! :D Next time I have an opportunity to do something like Laguna Seca in my F40 I'm going to break the rules. That was miserable.

I had a 42' Cigarette Revolution 188 built for me back in 1996 with three 600hp blown Chev's...never sounded like that! Those offshore Lambo motors were great...

Yes. Most of the sanctioned races have mutliple helicopters in the air following the different team boats and almost always have video footage being recorded. If it sounds like that through a video camera mic in a helicopter just imagine what it must have sounded in real life! :)

Can I ask an elementary question? What do the two guys who are not driving do?

+1 I'm always curious about that. Also to the guy who owns the Cigarette what type of cost of ownership do you have with that?

Oh I sold my Cigarette back in 2000, but the replacement boat built today would cost somewhere near $600 - $700,000.00. Mine was not super high performance but still burned 200 gallons of premium fuel an hour, wide open...oil had to be changed every 10 hours or so, insurance was thru the roof. It was alot of fun though and looked great at the marina with my 30SE Diablo !

    sounds fantastic.

Those marine engines weren't cheap, seen one (engine only) for sale at 95K U$.

But then I don't know much about marine engines, cost wise. 8.2 litres, 6000 RPM and 720HP says a quick google search. Nice.
