Sorry! I don't mean for this picture to be insensitive to your situation. I have a close friend in the same boat, and he's sick about his car. That's tough for such a special car to be caught up in this mess, and IMHO 308's are VERY special. I like the hore trade idea. Good luck! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Neither do I but Gothspeed and Vince are not going to be happy hearing the cars are worth more in Red than in BLACK... Joking aside, some good advice here. Get another app. done and tell the guy from the start what it is for - too hard to value your car without looking at it first. MB
No offence to anyone but an Appraisal is ment to value of a piece of property at THAT POINT IN TIME, not what it was worth last year, not what you paid for it, nor what you THINK it should be worth now. A Divorce or any other personal matter should have NO impact on an Appraisal, Many Appraiser have lost their license for "over inflating values." I would love my 84 GTB QV to appraise for $45k but agree with Chris, $27-$30k will buy 98% of the 308 QVs on the market, a seller asking $40k will still have that car next year. (and probably the year after that)
My 83 QV was appraised at $45k (in the current economy) for insurance purposes. Once the economy strengthens, I believe all 308s will begin moving up the price ladder - just as the 246 did only 10 years ago.
I have a 85 308qv and I may have to sell it but I'll never let it go for the current prices poeple think they should sell for,I to think my car is and can't be replace for 42K I have more that tied up in it and doing will at the shows.I got mine insured for 45k
Sorry Guys, I have to disagree with you. Having an independant appraiser appraise your vehicle for true market value and having an insurance company adjuster insure the vehicle for a set amount is two different things. "Their betting you won't, and your betting you will" mentality, I can go to my insurance agent tomorrow and insure my car for $60k but that doesn't mean thats what the car appraises for. And as far as arguement that "I have more money than that in the car" Welcome to my world, I loose money on alot of my cars. LOL
+1 A good appraisal should show a range of numbers. Some historical information adds fluff, but the "bottom line" on the last page is based on recent sales figures, and is still an opinion of the appraiser. It can vary by some percentage which is just a subjective thing. If the bottom line shows 90K which is 2 - 3X real world in todays market, the appraisal will take some defending. If the car is a 700 mile time capsule, or a flawless resto and a buyer appreciates this, then it's entirely possible. The market is a real killer, and the only way to know exactly the value is to sell it - but then that will be the value to that specific buyer. I have a georgeous 308 that was left to me that I tried to sell about a year back (NOT red). I tried to get 35. About 4 months later dropped to 33. I had a bunch of 28 and 29 offers. Now, I'm paying for nice clean storage. I couldn't, and wouldn't trust trying to re-buy this car in the condition I know so well for 29. So I get to keep her
Tommy, One thing to remember even if you have a prenup, if the values go up on them she would be entitled to half of that equity, or any other properties, believe me I know.
Here's a couple of pix. It's NOT red, and the rear wing and wheel paint is not original, but it is the freshest feeling 308 I know of. I drove a very young <10,000 mile '76 glass body GTB, and a 7,500mile 78 GTS, and this car feels like those. My '78 has rebuilt suspension, new shocks on and on, and doesn't feel this crisp.
