The other day I was wiping down the motor, etc and beneath the airbox I heard a "buzzing" sound. I had nothing running or on. Just doing some light wiping of the bay, etc.

Then on a different day I had the car running for a bit, approx 5 min while reinstalling my pass seat. When I turned the car off I heard the same "buzzing" sound, again coming from the area of the airbox. Its intermittent, a short burst of this buzz for approx 1-2 seconds then stops and will resound a few minutes later. This goes buzz sounds for approx. 3 - 4 times then stops completely.

    What is this......?

Another system that can make some unusual noises after engine shutoff is the fuel vapor recovery system (if yours is a US version 328). Easy to investigate -- just unscrew the fuel filler cap and see if that has any effect on the noise.

This is an aside but: I really like the sounds the 308/Mondial fuel system makes when the ignition is first turned on. Relays click, the pump starts, the accumulator makes a little "I'm full" sound and the 'Saturn IVb' is ready to launch. Yummy. :) -rick

Is your safety switch unplugged or broken (or some other modifications)? On the stock F K-Jet systems, the fuel pump should not run if the key is "on", but the engine isn't actually drawing air thru the airflow metering device.

Yep, its buggered. Part of the 'federalizing' that was done in 1983, and not yet un-done by me. BTW, it will, however, time out. Humm...
