I was driving my 360 in the Hills with a friend when it suddenly overheated.

The coolant temp went into the red and then I started to hear a funny sound and so I pulled over.

The coolant was leaking from the expansion tank and maybe from below.

We let her cool off for about 15 minutes and then limped down the hill where she started to over heat again. Put some coolant in but to no avail.

I didn't hear the fans running so it might be a on/off switch or maybe the fans or water pump.

The only nice thing was my friend was really "cool" and tried to make me feel better by goofing around trying to hitch a ride.

    Smart aleck-y answers:

    1) Ya know, she may be blonde but you really should tell her the passenger seat is INSIDE the car.

    2) Hello: FNA Hotline? My blonde is overheating. Can I get a tow?

    3) Now, that's what I call "fitted" luggage! Just what code is that on the options list?

    4) "Ummm... sweety. Normally we do a photo shoot with the girls sitting on the hood, not under it."

    5) Translated from Italian on page 425 of the Ferrari 360 manual: "Always carry a spare blonde in case of emergency".

    6) "No, I'm sorry. 3 D cell batteries will not help jump the car. You can put those back where you... um.. found them."

    7) Let's check the trunk. Tire Jack.. check. Tire pressure gauge.. check. Mother's polish.. check. Chamois...check. Diaper...check. Spare oil...check. Blonde... check!

    8) Not another one!!! If I had a nickel for every blonde I carried in this car... I could afford a "major!"

    9) Hey! Where did YOU come from? The last time I looked, there was a brunette in there!

    10) Darn! 110 lbs of useless dead weight! No wonder the car felt sluggish!

Thanks for the photo! Good luck on getting her warmed up properly again (sorry, I couldn't resist!)

Did you ever figure out what was wrong with the car...?

No honey, the engine is in the BACK of the car...you didn't find the source of the problem in there.

    :D

Good luck on the car; I hope you're out driving it...or her...soon. ;)

Reminds me of a scene from Married with Children when Kelly Bundy was taken on a date by another creeper and he stopped his car on a mountain road...

Creeper: Ooops... looks like we're out of gas.
Kelly: Aren't you supposed to turn off the engine before you say that?
Creeper: *turns off engine* oops... looks like we're out of gas!

Let me see. She is beautiful. She obviously has a sense of humor. She is still smiling after being stuck on the side of the road in a busted car. If I were you, I would keep her.

Oh yeah, did I mention the part about her being beautiful? Car is nice, too.

The service center told me that there is a thermostat switch and relay which need to be replaced. No other damage.

I normally use my own dipstick to determine the proper temperature. It's a highly specialized tool perfectly with a "special purpose" just for this task. I have the part number somewhere....

From what I recall from the owners manual about the cooling system is that the circuit is closed right after starting for rapid warm up, once the fluid is at temp then the circuit is opened with flow to the front radiator/ fan.

If the switch stays closed, the coolant begins to overheat and expand in volume due to
    gas phase transition.

Are you talking about the girl or the car?

I wish my girlfriend came with an owners manual. I might find out the proper way to start her up and shut her down. Overheating is definately a problem too. Any suggestions?

(I'm just kidding... she may be reading!)
