"Dense" is, unfortunately, not the case - He's one very, very, smart Mo-Fo.

Trouble is, like some other "smart" people he's also totally friggin' crazy!..... I honestly believe the "pressures" of running the planets biggest sport may do this to people.... I was looking for confirmation that the previous dude (JMB) in charge went to the loony-bin after he was ousted by Mad Max (and the evil pygmy of course). All I came up with was JMB was *another* nazi sympahiser during the war.... He subsequently claimed he was an undercover resistance fighter, but he also set out as a publisher with a guy who did time in France for collaborating with the nazis..... Common thread maybe?

    Cheers,
    Ian

this is the best I could do to find out who the other people in FIA are (for what that's worth beside nothing!)

Nick Craw, President of the Automobile Competition Committee for the US, has been elected as the new FIA Deputy President for Sport. At its annual meeting in Paris today, the FIA General Assembly, the supreme executive body of the FIA, voted unanimously for Craw’s election. As well as serving as FIA Deputy President for Sport, Craw will continue to sit on the management committee for the FIA Motor Sport Safety Development Fund.

The FIA General Assembly, which consists of the presidents of each of the FIA's member clubs and national organisations, also elected the following to fill vacated positions.

Vice President of the FIA for Sport
Mohammed Ben Sulayem ATCUAE (United Arab Emirates)

Member of World Motor Sport Council
    Enrico Gelpi ACI (Italy)

Vice President of the FIA for Mobility and the Automobile
    Jorge Rosales ACA (Argentina)

Member of World Council for Mobility and the Automobile
    Karen Bryden AASA (South Africa)
    Tim Shearman CAA (Canada)
    Rudolph Zumbühl TCS (Switzerland)
    Augusto Lagman AAP (Phillipines)

    FIA Honorary Deputy President
    Marco Piccinini ACM (Monaco)

    President of the FIA Academy
    Rosario Alessi ACI (Italy)

The FIA General Assembly unanimously approved the appointment of Carlos Barbosa, President of ACP (Portugal), as the FIA Representative to the European Commission for the interests of motor sport.

I went looking for the same information and found a wiki description of the WMSC.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIA_World_Motor_Sport_Council
Surprisingly, Nice Craw, former SCCA president, is the Deputy President of the WMSC. I can't believe that he has not be working harder to bring F1 back to anywhere in North America.

Does seem rather strange, doesn't it? (maybe he wants Max's job so he goes along with everything the man says)??

who knows.... I would have thought being a "governing body" they might be expected to post meeting agendas...guess not.

Jean Todt is his most likely successor. He has been planning and waiting for Mad Max to blow up. If not, I wouldn't be surprised if you see him on the FOTA side.

Yes, we have all heard those rumors as far back as 04, but.......I am not sure that JT would want to jump into this position. I would feel from the perspective of the other teams, he might still be a bit too close to his Ferrari career to be completely objective, especially with his son managing Ferrari driver Massa.

On the positive side of the rumor, he is French and he has broad experience in rally cars, LeMans and F1.

Wasn't it Peter ["Procoach" in here] who said recently that it appeared Nick had also gone crazy? - I may be wrong, but IIRC he also had valid reasons for his thoughts. I'll try and search it out......

    Cheers,

How can you put "positive" and "French" in the same sentence!? :D

Seriously, I'm with Steve on this - A crazed 600lb gorilla would be an improvement at this point - I'm just hoping the vote (if there is one) goes the right way...... I don't have anything against JT and at least he seems to be (somewhat?) sane right now.......

    Cheers,
    Ian

    :D

While I agree, I was making referance to the FIA being a french organization based in Paris and the FIA finding his "frenchness" acceptable. He has Polish ancestry as well and seems to spend a bit of his time in the far east these days.

We'll see. Personally until there is someone else in his chair I'll be keeping the silver cross and wooden stake handy.

he's not gone until October and his replacement could very well be worse so it all becomes circular - back to racing - that's found in other series!

I think that part of the deal was that Max gets to make the first public statements allowing him to save face, but if things are as they seem he's been marginalized for the short run and gone in the long run.
