what products do you folks currently use to detail the large black shields on either side of the engine bay?

Armorall doesnt seem to be doing the trick, and regular soapy water doesnt work either.

I have even tried 303, but that just makes it shiny.

I want to clean it and protect it.

    Thoughts?

You might also like to try a product by Granitize called Auto Gloss Hi Gloss. www.granitize.com

It is fabulous on rubber and dark metal items- wiper arms, blades, engine parts, etc.

A neighbor is a factory rep and he gave me a sample bottle.

It is fantastic, no greasy film, and it makes rubber and metal parts shine beautifully.

WD40 has oil in it which can make parts attract dust.

That's a very good point and I will find out.

Their customer base is primarily car dealers but I will find out and then put you in touch with him.
