Late word is that Brawn has priced itself out of continued Virgin sponsorship and Sir Richard is looking to back the new Manor team.

I don't know if it is or not. That's how it was refered to in the press report. In any case if true it will be branded U-Tube or some variant. Apparently if the price had been right Brawn was to become Virgin.

    Hmmm - Very interesting!

I wonder if ego's are starting to show? - As I've said before, everything Sir Richard touches has a habit of turning to gold and I wonder if he fancies himself as an owner?.... "Sorry Ross, I'm not going to go that high, I may as well do it myself!".....

It would be a bad move on his part (IMHO) - There is only one Ross!

OTOH, he does have more money than God, so *maybe* he could legitimize the Manor entry.....

    Cheers,
    Ian

You get what you pay for. Nothing like paying for cheap sponsorship to run at the back of the grid. If they even field a team next year....

*Exactly* my point! - That's not the way Sir Richard does things! - He's no dummy - I thought he had now seen enough to realize he doesn't want to be the next Force India...... Maybe, if this is true of course, he honestly believes he, himself, could "pull a Ross"..... Bad belief IMHO, but these guys all have monster egos......

    Cheers,
    Ian

Well, the USF1 "coming soon" web site now redirects to a USGPE "coming soon" web site. ;)
    (both registered through godaddy ;))

But the teams listings from the FIA (Mad Max) read "USF1".

USF1 may wind up getting godaddy and D.Patrick as a package.

(I'm glad I got my domain before godaddy started those ads. They're much better than you'd think from their dumb commercials.)

Methinks we're in for eight or nine months of name-dropping from the Windbag organization, ...
... before they *don't* show up for the first race, next year. ;)
(And then maybe there'll be a quick migration to Antigua. :D)

Is the rumor that Ferrari will be running a three car team next year at all credible?

If there is the word "team" in the name then bernie doesn't mind. Officially now they're Team USF1. The only exception to this is Williams

Branson should know better than this. Who else but Brawn could make a nobody team THE team to beat? And with two upper mid level, NOT top level drivers? And without a massive budget?

You cannot simply buy success in F1----ask Veejay, billionaire owner of Force India. And many others that have tried and failed----like HONDA and to a great extent over the years Toyota.

If it happens in 2011 Rossi has expressed interest in the third car...he's under contract for 2010 with Yamaha.

    Regarding Manor:

Manor Grand Prix team principal John Booth believes it is too soon to know whether the new cost-cutting regulations agreed between the FIA and FOTA last week will affect his team’s plans to compete in the 2010 Formula 1 World Championship. Asked if he would have entered a team in F1 had he known that it would be competing to 2009 rules he replied: “Probably not."

In a report in The Guardian said the rebel teams are preparing to protest the involvement of Alan Donnelly, Mosley's right-hand man at Grand Prix, in the new Manor team. Manor involves Mosley's former Simtek colleague Nick Wirth, and the British newspaper said F1 chief steward Donnelly's company is engaged in public relations for the team. Donnelly is also accused of escorting a Manor executive around a recent European F1 paddock, but a source close to him denies he has any "direct involvement" with the team.
