Ketchup is a brand name produced by Heinz. All other tomato products are Catsup. Kind of like Kleenex vs facial tissues.

Anyone ever put a Twinkee in the Microwave? At about 6 minutes, they shrink down to a little black charcoal brickette.

4-5 seconds with a data CD and I'll guarantee the data is GONE :D If you haven't
tried it, get an old CD and zap it 4-5 seconds. Won't hurt anything but the CD

I had keys to her place, as she did mine - most of the apartment building's dwellers knew this - one of them knocked on my door.

"I think something's on fire in Karen's place"

*Hustle* *unlock* *whew* Burnt-to-hell briquet-*something* in Microwave.

Smoky!? Woo! Windows opened in her place and both ends of building.

So, 15 minutes later she gets back.

She said she'd never had one, so, she put a burrito in for 45 minutes, and went to Post Office, Coffee Bean...

"Oh, is that what it was? A burrito? That was ready in 45 seconds, hon."

Later, me and her both were glad she had keys to my place.

    That microwave was so smoky-smelling...

Not a microwave, but I once put 6 eggs on to boil and left to run an errand, that
turned into an afternoon away. Got home to find all 6 eggs stuck to the ceiling :D

    SoCal, finally!
My best friend is a firefighter. They responded to a call a few years back made by a panicked woman. She did the same thing. Problem was that apparently her cat got on the counter to lick up some of the egg goo. This in and of itself isn't so bad. The problem was that the cat was standing on a pile of cash the woman had been counting. She was the treasurer for her bowling league and was to give out the grand prize that night. Well, cats tail hits red hot pot, cat freaks and tries to run. Money flies all over the stove and catches fire.

I wish I were a fly on the wall to hear her explaining that story to the winner of their tourney.

Do you freeze your pop tarts or something!? Mine seem to heat up in 3 seconds just like the box says :D Three minutes would incinerate the jam inside.

Sorry. Don't buy it. I've been trying this for 10 years in everything up to a 4000 watt
commercial restaurant microwave which is 5 times more powerful than anything in
    a home.

Yours do NOT 'heat up in 3 seconds' - NOTHING in a microwave heats in 3 seconds - unless
you have the most worthy Microwave in creation that no one else has ever seen :D

It's a GE Trivection microwave oven. It was custom made for my family by Vice President of Microwave Ovens and East Coast Television Programming, Jack Donaghy. I will put in a word for you.

Golly... I'm not worthy.... Think of how many pop tarts I would then be able to heat in 3 seconds, thus fulfilling the
    prophecy of The Box :D

    Scientific method:

Strawberry Milkshake poptart, with the 3 second warning on the label.

    77 degree's F room temp, zapped 3 seconds in a Sharp 1100 watt microwave.

82 degrees on outside, 83 inside. I think it was hotter in the center, I could see the temp of the pastry outside rise a couple of degree's after zapping, and actually the filling was 84-85 before I got the camera setup for the photo.

Then out of boredom I zapped the two pieces for another 30 seconds. Temp was in the 225 degree range before I could get the camera setup again.

Conclusion: filling temperature does rise after 3 seconds. However it was less than 10 degree's, which probably doesn't feel like much, especially going into a mouth with a higher interior temp.

Nowhere on the box does it say "it is a violation of Federal Law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling" ?

    Jedi,

I looked at a "competitor" pop-tart brand today, and they recommend 10 seconds in the microwave.
Time for a letter to Kellogg's!!!!

I did not realize that there are over 30 flavors of Pop-tarts... I have to try the Guava-Mango... :)

Pop-Tarts are awesome! I haven't purchased any in years, but sometimes they wind up in the break room and on mornings when I've neglected to make time for breakfast at home, they do the trick...and well! :D

OK, I had to bust this myth!

I did not go to the store at midnight last night, but did buy a box today and yes, the microwave directions DID say 3 seconds, so here goes the test!

    THE TEST:

With the help of a 20 year old microwave at a friends house today, we put one Pop Tart inside and set the timer for 3 seconds. After the 'DING', we broke the Pop Tart in half and took a bite. Upon tasting, the filling was warm. On the next test, we put it in for 5 seconds and took a bite, in which the filling just about burnt my tongue!

    IN CONCLUSION:

If the microwave I used was a new one, I'd guess that the filling would have been as hot as if I used a new one for 3 seconds! In short, the 3 second recommendation IS proper and it's NOT a type-o!
