EVO magazine:p
Due to some fchatters recommendations i'm now also reading Fooled by Randomness, Trading in the Zone and Liars poker. Now i just need to find time to read them....
I also rarely read fiction. It doesn't satisfy my thirst for information. But I usually get 3-5 library books every month, of which I usually read two and skim a third. Last few reads were law specific including Scalia's new Making Your Case, but also Stein on Writing (again - superb book), currently reading OG Mandino's The Greatest Salesman (brain programming), which I'm not enjoying as much as Think and Grow Rich.
For me, this tread has turned into what I am "buying" as oppose to reading. This weekend I found a few books at Goodwill, including something Russian: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=138781775#post138781775. I first stopped by Goodwill on Friday and noticed Porter/Competitive Strategy and Watson/Father, Son. I'd never heard of the Watson book but Porter sounded familiar. Instead of spending the $2 (+ tax) total I went home for a little research. I found the Porter book listed on Jim Collins' recommended list, which I'd previously bookmarked: http://www.jimcollins.com/tools/recommended-reading.html and I found the Watson book in this NY Times article when I Googled "great business books": http://executivesuite.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/07/17/the-best-business-books-ever/. I just realized that the Watson book is also listed on Collins' list. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Today at Goodwill I found an autographed copy of "Boone" by the man himself. Anyone read it? Also, picked up a paperback copy of "Wall Street", which is my all-time favorite movie. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein It's a book from a dog's point of view about his owner Denny and all the things they go through. When I type this, it sounds like a kids book, but it's really not. It's a very very good book to me and I really dislike reading.
I just finished the last 3/4ths of the book in one sitting. I cried. Every once in a while i read a book that is that good. This is one of them. read this book. you'll like it ferrari plays a part in it too, a big one!
Just findished reading the Harry Potter series for the second time, I was never a fan until my girlfriend told me how good the books were and although I have seen the movies which are good the books really are a hell of alot better! Also THE STRAIN by Guillermo Del Toro(PANS LABRYNTH) and CHUCK HOGAN a vampire book buy actually quite good I thought and the first book in a Three book series. Also by complete accident a book call "The Book With No Name" by ANONYMOUS which just happens to be another vampire book, which was entertaining and fast-paced like the previous books I mentioned. And once the 7th Potter book is done for the second time which should be tonight i'm going to start "Deception Point" by Dan Brown, controversial authour of "The DaVinci Code"
I just finished "Killing Pablo, The Hunt For The World's Greatest Outlaw" by Mark Bowden. It's pretty safe to safe the U.S. reallllllllly wanted Pablo Escobar out of the cocaine picture!
That was an amazing book! There is also a great 2 hour documentary (done by the History Channel I think) about it.
I wrote down a lot books many of you recommended and my goal is to have read most of them by the end of 2010. This weekend I picked up two: Lords of Finance - Thanks for the recommendation Chris, I've only read the Introduction and it appears it will be as good as you say. Think and Grow Rich - picked one up for my friends birthday as well.
just finished women by charles bukowski and the greatest generation by tom brokaw. halfway through closing time by joseph heller
