I was thinking of the test day for my cars. I'm thinking of getting a nasty formula car or Indy car in the near future and am coming up with possible days to go work the bugs out. Or maybe bring the '65 Vette to take my GF for a ride.

So are you searching for a good driver to go win with or a "buy a ride"?

We need someone who is quick in the second car to take points away from our competition so that we can secure the championship. Trolling around at the back of the field is not an option.

That's very doable. So you're looking for a wingman to race with? A car to place second and help you out with traffic then?

Is this more of a personal invitation or a personal advertisement?

Thanks for thinking of me. Assuming we got along, we'd have plenty to laugh about.

A personal advertisement? I don't really need one, I've won 5 of 7 races this season and earned 3 track records. I think I'm doing OK.

Quite seriously, for our sprint races series we need a qualified, experienced teammate to finish ahead of the competition for the remainder of the season. Two of our four remaining weekends are at Mid-Ohio. The more cars that finish between the team car and our main rivals, the more points we take away from them. Qualified means you have the requisite licence, membership, safety equipment and financial wherewithal to see it through. Specifics will be handled off F-chat.

    hmmm...

requisite license: he seems to be running several cars in vintage sanctioned events...i suspect he would get a waiver (provisional) from a club level sanctioning body such as nasa.

safty equipment: again, he is racing some big power ground pounders...i suspect he has the saftey equip covered.

financial wherewithal: b-maks cars appear to be old fiehawk cars (except i doubt the current engine program resembles anything close to rc engines from the good old days of the firehawk series)...casey has some very nice vintage cars that are worth far more and require more cubic dollars in tires alone thus he probably has the coin to rent a ride.

casey, my advice to you would be to rent a real ride in a real series. salt away the vintage cars or race them periodically. work with a team like comprent to campaign an f-2000 with a focus on getting points to get an invite to the run-offs. win an scca national championship and you have some street cred. a wingman role in an nasa event does nothing for you. invest your racing dollars wisely.

You know what happens when you assume, don't you, Peter?

Licence? Perhaps Casey has the appropriate licence or perhaps he doesn't. I don't know whether a vintage licence could simply 'transfer' to a road racing licence.

I can't assume that head and neck restraints are mandatory in vintage racing and that Casey would have one on hand. Then there's the matter of a helmet, suit and accoutrement. I don't know what standards vintage organizations observe, so, again, I can't assume.

Thanks for visiting our web site and reading about one of our cars (we need all the traffic we can get). Indeed, that car started life as a fiehawk car, though our other car is a brand new build. The T car chassis is also brand new.

About the engines, we actually run two separate programs, one for each car. Our cars are governed by a unique set of rules. Since I started my so-called career in fiehawk, I'm happy to tell you these engines make about 30% more power than 'the good old days', plus we run about 200 lbs lighter.

    Assumptions FTW!

    Hello guys,

Thanks for the interest to have me drive for you. I can certainly provide the speed and consistency you want.

I poses an FIA B International, an SCCA National, and of course SVRA and VSCDA Vintage licenses.

No problem with safety equipment .

If you would like me to drive for you, I appreciate the icebreaker and I'll consider coming out to meet you and race. However, if you want me to buy a ride from you, I'm not sure that your series is where I want to focus my efforts. I'm sure we will meet in the future regardless and I look forward to it.

    Thanks,

    Casey

My brother got married this weekend and due to the time constraints I did not race at Mid-Ohio.

You didn't answer my question though. Are you inviting me to drive with you or are you looking to sell a ride in your car?

Are you inviting me to drive for you are do you want me to pay?

    Thanks

What's a PM? I don't know all this chat lingo.

If you are inviting me to drive for free, I appreciate the offer and will consider coming out to have some fun, help win the race with you, and break the ice.

If you want me to pay any amount for the ride, thank you for the offer, but I feel my funds are best spent in another direction within racing.

Thanks again. I look forward to meet you at an event in the future.

Been following this portion of the thread with astonishment that it lives on and on.

Chap, having been around racing for a while, knowing what you must - what on earth would make you think b-mak is offering you a free ride? I haven't seen the PM, don't know either of you, wish you both the very best in a tough racing environment, but ... "drive for free?"

    +1,000!

Casey, there are very few people in the country (in comparison to the numbers who compete) that don't "bring money" to secure their seat. Part of the Motorola and GoDaddy sponsorship that Danica brings to AGR goes to her to pay her multimillion dollar retainer, but SHE solicited that sponsor and SHE sends more money to be placed in the hands of AGR than she takes BY FAR! I can count on ONE hand how many drivers are "paid" or even offered rides at just the "semi-pro" level (Koni/WC/IPS/FA/PFM/IMSA Lights/F2000) without "bringing money." For NASA, Club Racing and vintage/historic, the sponsor is your back pocket, period!

As an amateur driver (which you and I are, no matter HOW you slice it), it is likely a good offer from b-mak to join a successful, proven team (a bigger fish based on this season's results and in a bigger pond that you and I play in), pay the money and advance your cause and resume, that is if you believe your skills are superior to most.

It is ludicrous to believe that you or anyone else (other than Randy Pobst, maybe) can waltz in without some significant contribution other than showing your pearly whites and the required kit and credentials to burn up the major underwriter's MORE significant investment in the car and the team, especially when what you do will put this investment at risk! What ANYONE who gets in the seat will do... It would go a long way to silence your critics and bolster your credibility to, as you say, "make the investment" to get out there and show 'em your performance advantage... ;) As Brian Redman said, the only data acquisition that counts is the stopwatch! :D THAT is the TRUE arbiter of talent and skill.

You would have enjoyed the event last weekend. Weather was good, over 250 cars, ~20K+ spectators Saturday and a lot of good, clean, sometimes hard racing. Got down to :32's on a track that they put down over 50 bags of oil dry over the weekend and with the chicane in my 140 hp antique. Had a great battle with my friend, the Van Diemen importer from Canada and former multi-time Pro FF2000 and FF1600 Canadian National Champion David Clubine. I finished second, but Saturday's race was one fo the most pleasurable and hard-earned podiums I've had in a while. I race for fun and although my business is successful, I pay out of my pocket. You need to, too! ;)

Just bought a 360 rear panel from here. What Honda parts did you get?
