Nice. What type of beer are those 22oz. Chris? I'm buying some beer for a BYOB slip 'n slide b-day party Saturday and looking for recommendations. Preferrably something that's refreshing because it's going to 100+ degrees with the heat index?
Sorry. Missed this. I didn't like it but a lot of people like the Samuel Adams summer ale Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
On the Travel Channel last night I watched Extreme Pools; my obvious favorite: Beer Pool Tarrenz, Austria At the Starkenberger Brewery located in Tarrenz, Austria, you can take a dip in the world's only pool filled entirely with beer. Located in a 700-year-old castle, the Starkenberger Brewery opened this extreme pool in 2005. The room was originally used for fermenting and brewing beer, but became obsolete when the brewing process was automated. The pool is 13 by 13 feet and contains 52 gallons of concentrated beer mixed with 4,000 gallons of water. While you may order a frosty one at the bar, the beer in the pool is kept at luxurious 90 degrees Fahrenheit. I had a new type of beer, for me, in Alaska this week. We took a tour tour a brewery and one of their beers was called "Smoked Porter". Boy was it smokey but I really liked it. It was cool to have something different.
Doddsey! I just had the Golden Monkey after 5 hours of good ol' studying for the series 7... I must say it was a great reccomendation!!! Very nice reward for breaking my back hittin the books all day! I'll try the others this weekend bc tonights for the local microbrew: Basil T's German Heffeweisen (sp?) Ill let you know how the rest from our shopping spree go!
Cool. I picked up some new IPA today and a bottle of Russian River Consecration (finally!!) and will be getting another 3 or 4 bottles of it on Sunday hopefully. Its really hard to get Russian River stuff over here on the East coast
Wasnt Consecration the rediculously expensive bottle at Monks when we went with Uncle Mike???? Get me one if its a good deal by you!
Yea. I got it for $25 today but the place i'm going to Sunday hopefully still has 3 on reserve for me at $22.50 each Damnation was what you and Gerber had at Monks which is a golden ale. I managed to snag a bottle of that too a while ago
Forgot about what I drank over the weekend. I had Banana Bread Beer.....I believe it's brewed by Wells. It was good, but not great. Beers like this, imo, need to brewed as a stout and not ales, imo.
snippet: "...Cherry Hill-based Flying Fish Brewing Co. has started releasing beers that honor the congested and often-derided thoroughfare...The New Jersey Turnpike Authority objected, saying the beers make it seem like the government body is endorsing the beer. The authority has backed off its complaints since the brewer started using a disclaimer to be clear that there's no official link between the road and the brew...The beers are being made in limited runs and sold in 750 milliliter wine-size bottles. The first, a Belgian-style ale, came out earlier this year in honor of Exit 4, the exit nearest the suburban Philadelphia industrial park that Flying Fish calls home...Mindy Lazar, executive director of New Jersey's chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving. "The combination of a roadway and advertising for any kind of a beer doesn't make any kind of sense," she said. "This is almost a mockery."..." link: http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2009/07/10/nj_brewery_draws_ire_for_naming_beers_after_exits/
Gonna get some Stout for the weekend? Anyone recommend something other than Guiness or Young's that they enjoy?
Saw this article in the AP and went out and bought the first edition the same afternoon. Its the Exit 4 Bottle, not sure I wana drink it bc i like the bottling so much. By M.A.D.D. making such a fuss over this I feel like they are inadvertantly (SP) helping promote it to the beer community
It's ridiculous, really. I'm so tired of everyone being offended at every-little-thing that is said or done. Anyways, how was it?
Some friends and I were up at Monk's in Philly over the weekend. I had the Dogfish Head Theobroma. That was really chocolaty and good. They had the Russian River Damnation on tap that was pretty good too. I had the Russian River Consecration at the Savor event in DC back in May 30. That was spectacular stuff. I also tried Odell's Woodcut No. 2 that was really awesome.
Havent had it yet, Im going to try to pick up another bottle if they still have any in stock, and then I'll drink one and report back.
