Euro front end but has a US rear bumper with the vent strip.

    Local car to me.

    No rear hoop spoiler.

    Could be a nice buy.

This is an odd car---U.S. rear bumper and front lenses/fog lights, and Euro for the rest. What gives??

I asked the seller about the bumpers, etc. and received this response:

"From my understanding the car has a Euro front and rear. Carfax reads of no accidents. During my 2 year ownership there were no accidents. The car is in great condition and I do not believe has ever been an any accidents."

I have been thinking of buying the car as well...just not sure, sounds like a good buy. Would almost have to check the car out in person.

Front and rear crash damage on Euro car fixed in the US with US parts?

Possibly. More eBay crap for "bargain" hunters.

    Interesting,

VIN (assuming it's original) corresponds to Euro indeed (digit #4: W = Euro 328; digit #8: B = LHD Euro; digits #9 and 10: 0, which wouldn't be the case if US).

Car was likely manufactured around July 1985 (note: it's referred to as an '86 model, which is not unusual). 2 details: 66,100 km is a little over 41,000 miles (so >40k) and the correct HP number for Euro cars is 271 @ 7,000 RPM (rather than 280).

If it checks out technically and in terms of body work, it sounds like a sharp price indeed. Quite a few of these sell for at least $ 40,000 or more (in Europe even higher than that, say € 40,000-45,000).

A good deal then? Seems to depend on whether the accident theories above prove correct...

i saw this car on ebay a few months ago. i checked on the seller at the time (don't know if it's the same dealer, but the car is in the same city) and some red flags popped up about some other transactions he had done. best to check into that as well.
