If we were to return to the good ol' days it would be called the 562 GTB like the 125/166/212/250/275/330 series, etc.

As for the LED lights ... are they so unoriginal that they want to copy Audi? BMW are the only ones that got this done with class ...

A full-body prototype of the Ferrari 450 was spied off the track during testing in Maranello, Italy. The company's next top model was spotted for the second time in a week following its first appearance, althought this time it is much harder to see the apparent LED light strip off the headlamps.

This car will be the successor to the Ferrari 450. Back in May, Ferrari officially announced the completed production of the last F430. That unit was especially built to raise funds for those affected by April's devastating earthquake in L'Aquila, Italy.

The F430 was more or less a freshening-up of the Ferrari 360, something which has led to a large amount of interest in the F450. The new unit has the same, steeply angled roof as its predecessor, and appears to also have some similarities at the front.

Previous spies have suggested that the car's V8 engine was relatively quiet at low-revs, but tapping the gas made the 500hp engine roar.

Unfortunately, this is all speculative due to the heavy amount of padding and tape used to cover up this car. The tri-tailpipe configuration at the back looks interesting, and could be used to replace the F430's quad-tailpipes. However, the exhaust on the prototype might be more of a placeholder than the final version. LEDs appear to be a part of the taillights as well.

Ferrari could introduce the F450 at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show.

I agree, the pictures from the side make it seem as if it's an enzo silhouette with more curves than angles. Although, I do think that the windscreen is too large...

You can get an idea on how much leaner this car will look by a hint from the gas cap. You can clearly see daylight through the camo that shows the curve of the body work. The flanks are much more trimmed than 430 by removing the intakes and smoothing out the body.

Underneath that fibreglass fake F430 covering is the real car. It's going to be tighter and slimmer for sure.

The car will be presented in September in Frankfurt, not in December in LA. The hybrid car will be presented at the LA show.

So if the official presentation is in Sept, then we should see an official picture within 3/4 weeks??

 

Seems like there is an air intake at the back of side windows. Not clear if it linear or triangular.
Wonder how this will be resolved in a Spider configuration where the rear "sail panel" doesn't exist?

 

The rear end of this car will be something to behold... Even more F40 inspiration; the rear curves noted from those early crash test pics amount to duct work promoting cooling and extra downforce. Should be an excellent functional and beautiful styling element.

I bet those air scoops are a bogus distraction.

 

They look unfinished to be sure but they may provide needed ducting while the cladding is on. IMO they do feed something.

 

very good observation, even the mirrors look F40 style

 

+1 They simply disguise the scalloped air duct design that flanks either side of the rear window.

 

the batman style air scoops are probably to enhance the performance due to all the camo...i think it would be similar concept to the F40
