Negative. But, they are all over ebay as I am sure you know. I am thinking of buying one for the summer and selling it come fall.

 

LOL...C'mon big guy(FBB) I was yankin' your rope. I have always known Mr. Billy Bob to be a straight shooter too, I just couldn't resist tuggin' a little.

 

It's not so much a maintenance hog as a "repairs" HOG. Valve guides, dash shrinkage, cracked exhaust manifolds, etc. EXPENSIVE repairs. The problems with the f355 are well-documented. Call any Ferrari parts specialist and they will tell you that the f355 is a big pumper for their business. I'm not dissing the f355 - it's a gorgeous car. Just talking simple facts here. If your experience has been different, that's great!

Now, if I had the jack to pay the freight, I might well have a f355, but I would keep my 348 when big brother was in the shop.

Delve into the details...valve guides on a later car are a non-issue (late 98+), dash is a rare problem, my car had 35k miles and dash was fine. NEW lifetime guarantee headers are $3k at most, one time done. Just do your homework, be smart with upgrades and you'll be a very happy owner.

But I will agree, if you plan on buying a 355 and running to the dealer for everything with factory parts it will get pricey real quick.

I'm sorry if I offended any of you f355 guys. I actually LOVE that car and almost bought one last summer. And then I talked to a certain Ferrari repair specialist on here and changed my mind.

But that's just because Husker isn't exactly well-heeled and I can't be busting out $15K for a repair.

It's almost there. The tank is in the car, fuel lines hooked up to the pumps, power lines connected, shifter and linkage installed, under tray bolted back on, only one fuel filter left to hook up then it gets put on the ground. I still have the intake plenum off but I can have that back in less than half a day.

It's really close.

Anyone care to give their opinion on what a fair price is for a 1999 355 F1 Spider in Black/Black, with 38k miles? The car has passed a PPI with no issues aside from sticky interior comments and slight shrinking of the airbag. It had a full service last year (3k miles ago) including belts and clutch. It has a tubi, otherwise it's all stock. I know the miles are up there, but it's a well sorted car and I'm tempted to get a top down car!

+1, I don't care how much my car's worth because I'm not planning to sell it today. The market value is important only for all those trying to dump their cars at this time. I can sympathize with all those trying to sell in todays market. I bought last year and thought I got a good deal, but prices today are much better. I don't cry over spilled milk, because if I've waited to buy until now, I would not have enjoyed my car over this past year. I've always planned on keeping the 355, but I suppose I may feel like selling it or moving up the food chain at some time in the future. At that time I'll worry about how much it's worth. In its production time, the car was a world-beater, even keeping up with the twice as expensive 512 TR at the time. Today the performance is still very respectable, more than good enough for most enthusiasts. Now if you just buy a car to compare 0-60 times with the other guy at the bar, buying a 10 to 14 year old car is not the smartest way of keeping up with the joneses. Over this 1st year I've had my mechanical issues with my car, but still would not do it any different-buying my 1st ferrari.

 

While everyone is too busy focused on the 348 and 355 debate, you are all forgetting a big part of the equation.

The mess in the TR and 550 world. As a TR owner, every new buyer looking at the 348 and 355 once realizing they can get into a TR, will most likely jump into that ship. Again, 7,000 TR and another 2,000 plus 550s in the same price bracket complicate matters. Maintence is about the same when your thinking of these cars....the TR long term maybe cheaper (no electronics) like the 348, 355......so as much as people think the bottom is near or here...i tend to think its only started, and many of us with TRs,355s,348s,360s,550s and very possible the 328 might be in for a MUCH bigger surprise in the next few years with prices staying the same at best.

have to agree if you are buying to look good to someone you bought for the wrong reason. There are just to many people who can afford to buy but can't afford to play.
crap if you want HP braggin' rights buy 2 year old Z06( I don't think the chevy is bad I'm just sayin'). The 355 is a timeless beauty, rolling artwork and great fun to drive. Oh and that engine song what more could you ask for?

Well I love them (side strakes; cheese grates et al). They are one, but not all, of the reasons I chose my 348tb.

 

Money aside, I wouldnt trade my 355 for 6 TRs. They are just a big boat.
