With the exotic market a bit moving these days -- why are we not finding more talk of folks making use of the barter or partial trade approach? This would definitely be a way for someone looking to get into Ferrari to perhaps do a cash + trade (daily driver) = Ferrari deal versus take the full $40K+ plunge. Cooper S, Porsche + cash, type proposal. Comments?
It's a great idea. I don't see a widely accepted forum for making it happen between private sellers, though.
good idea, but most of us pay cash for the cars, and when its time for another Ferrari, we already know what we want, so trades loose their usefulness. i am just going to keep my QV, and get a carb 308 ( gt4 ) too when my ducks are in a row. i change cars every year or so, and usually have 4-6 cars registered and insured. "trading" has never really appealed to me as a gearhead, but i guess it depends on the deal.
agree that it doesnt usually help on exotic to exotic. I was more thinking of a guy who wanted to get into an F-Car for the first time, and had another car to trade. In my case, I am selling my Mondial t cab, and am in need of a sporty, daily driver that I feel comfortable with leaving at an airport or around town. Thats why I was thinking MiniCooper S or Boxster/Cayman -- and an oppty for someone to trade up with cash.
