Send Harry a PM (carsinxs). OMP uses something very close. If you want to win concours, may not work, but cocoon protected garage queens will beat you anyway. Enzo did expect them to be driven, not iconized.

Dave, Harry, we all know 00Joe likes to start stuff, then runs like a little girl, reports posts, and whines to someone. The fact he is a sponsor makes him Teflon boy. So the rest of us who aren't "the most interesting man in the world" get annoyed by his narcissism, the disregard for civility he claims as entitlement, and he skates. Rinse, repeat.

Only person that can ban 00Joe is Rob, hasn't happened despite blatant abuse of TOS, and him dwelling in many peoples utter disdain. Perhaps even our own mods/host.

Like Maxx and Bernie (far less success and accomplishment, however), Joe pouts when he doesn't get his way. All about the $ and his ego. Ignorant enough not to recognize James Joyce. Poor understanding of aerodynamics. Namecalls when his "Word" is threatened.

Remember, a masochist is someone who says "beat me, beat me", and a sadist says "no". Wonder how we can overcome the below DSM?

    DSM-IVTR
(Take a wild guess) indicated by five (or more) of the following:[1]
    1-Has a grandiose sense of self-importance
2-Is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty or ideal love (megalomania)
3-Believes they are "special" and can only be understood by, or should associate with, people (or institutions) who are also "special" or of high status
    4-Requires excessive admiration
    5-Has a sense of entitlement
    6-Is interpersonally exploitative
    7-Lacks empathy
8-Is often envious of others or believes others are envious of him or her
9-Shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes

    Hmmmmmmmmmmm. :D
I can provide citations for all above, Joe. I'd provide your response too, but it'll be funny to see if I'll win a side bet on you.[/mock]

Mea culpa Ricky. It shouldn't be so hard to find what you need here, from friendlier and cheaper sources.

    Return to regular programming. [

Ricky and I have exchanged PM's. My recommendation was to ask straight forward in this forum for the supposed wee protected secrect formula known to a single megalamania. I see this approach has not rendered the hoped response. But hey, he had 2 sources of seats during the thread (right?!)---perhaps one of those could fit the bill, if they actually exist-which I highly doubt---that was the playing nice via the Daveorator reference too. Bait and bash. Man I wish I had the time needed to fine tune such internet skills. Unfortunately, I have a family and cars to drive-not a keyboard to drive. motor on brothers by the by it's 9 of 9....

Its reproduction, but the same color and texture, and a little more resilient and less likely to fray, as reported to me by someone who has used it.

The real original stuff has mostly run out after all these years.

Can anyone comment how the euro seats fit?

Specifically I'd like to know if there is a seat with a little more width on the bottom towards the middle and front of the seat. My thighs just do not like the US seating position and it would be nice to find a seat with more width towards the shifter and door at the fornt of the seat.

I bought the last set from the factory store about 2 years ago. If you look hard enough you will find there are still seats available from various dealers that are generally available to customers. They may have a left seat, or a right seat, but harder to find a pair. Price was 13k a set iirc. Cheaper than 430 challenge seats. I wouldn't count on them being available indefinitely, however.

    Nope, just another middleman.

    Hmm.

    Both unfair, and factually wrong.

It sounds as if the Eu seats are just what you need.

Ive sat in both, and with the USA-spec seats, you get the 'wedged-in' feel that you're describing, because of the almost vertical bolsters. You almost have to 'drop' yourself into the seat, and you can see that a lot of the USA seats have stress cracks because the driver has not eased themselves into it (which is not possible to do every single time). Getting out of the USA seat is bit of a chore too, being that you're locked in there. Great for cornering though!

The Eu seats on the other hand allow your thighs to be more 'splayed', thus allowing a little more knee-clearance at the bottom of the steering rim, and are MUCH easier to get in & out of.

Recently got an F40 and why anyone would want factory seats for any reason but show baffles me. The whole passive restraint system is idiotic, and I don't blame Ferrari. It was our government at work making a restraint system that is less effective than simple 3-point belts because lazy morons refuse to actually buckle up, and so the entire population is subject to the lowest common denominator. The early Viper was the same way.

But I digress. I have bought a pair of Sparco bottom mount seats and will try to fabricate an adaptor. When it comes time to sell the car, I may consider re-covering the stock seats. The car has bosses right behind the seats for 7/16-20 screw eyes to mount shoulder harnesses so I am going that route. The Euro seats are nice and all, but ridiculously expensive and at the end of the day a modification to the car anyway, so I'll try the Sparcos.

The whole F40 preservation cabal simpy baffles me and I bet makes Enzo roll in his grave. EVERYTHING that is used gets wear and tear. But to not use it is even worse. In case they did not notice, none of the owners of these cars is going to last forever, either.

Ever notice that truly vintage cars can sometimes be more valuable for the period correct maintenance done to them that modified them? Ferrari race cars can be ruined by over-restoration if the signs of repair after a shunt at, say, LeMans are restored out of existence.

Finally, I love the F40, but it really has a lot of sloppy and crappy workmanship. My 1993 Viper was better in most respects and got crucified for fit, finish, etc. What makes the F40 special is the way it moves, feels, sounds and drives. Not the crappy green glue, felt dashboard, low quality seat fabric and pedestrian gauges and switchgear inside.

I like the stock seats and belts because its a way to enjoy the way the car was designed and built 20 years ago. Sure its not better than stuff you can but today, but that's what makes it so different and even more interesting.

Probably too broadsweeping of a claim, Joe is right, but fully based on my personal experience with Re-Originals.
My disappointment lingers based on three orders from Matt that were never filled, and in the end I had to search and found the same elsewhere.

Especially a trunk carpet set that for 9 months Matt told me was "on order", "being shipped from Italy", then "in customs". Weeks later when he still didn't have it in, I found it elsewhere and relayed the above story to the shop owner about not being able to find it. The purveyor of the shop told me "We sell lots of carpet to Matt Jones/Re Originals".

    Excellent!

I bet they were a pretty penny. For the benefit of others, let us know how much, and how long they take to arrive.

My dealer still says not available, so I guess it depends on which dealer you speak with!

With the creation of the infamous Classiche Department Ferrari will re-manufacture any part for any Ferrari and stamp it as an original part, all in the pursuit of creating a "factory certified" car. The premise is BS but the resulting availability of parts is quite handy.
The price tag for some of these parts and work done by Classiche at the factory can be quite breathtaking. It is quite neat however to wander around the Classiche workshop and see the old timers brought out of retirement working lovingly on a 250 SWB or a comp Daytona. It's an amazing place. I guess a couple of F40 seats are no biggie for them.

I ordered and received factory euro seats in about 5 weeks, one seat was in stock, the other had to be built. the price quoted here was about what I paid.

FYI 348 Series Speciale seats are the same as US F40 seats but covered in leather. I have a set in my kids Playstation room, feels kinda cool driving a Ferrari video in Ferrari seats!

They are not same as 355 sport seats.

Yup, my 348TBSS had those seats and they are the same as in my F40. Interestingly, the SS's could be special ordered with frau (stock 348) seats. Go figure.
