Just wondering if the smart fellas here on fchat can help with a 308 ('82) brake caliper cross reference. My questions are:

    1. Front calipers - are the front calipers the same as porsche front calipers? If yes, what model/years? 911 or 914?
    2. Rear calipers - are the rear calipers the same as porsche? searching old fchat threads seems to suggest the same at 914/6 rears.
    3. Rebuild kits for calipers and MC - best place to purchase?

Thanks in advance - any/all help is much appreciated!

They seem to be the same as on a 914 but I believe the handbrake part on the rear calipers is slightly different. For rebuild kits you can try ATE, the company who made those calipers, they are supposedly NLA but I have heard rumors that some of their distributors are still stocking them, in case you find an ATE original kit they should be pretty cheap, or you can save time and call Daniel at Ricambi grab on to your ankles and enjoy your new brakes :)

Oh, I just realised that you said yours is a 82, what I said refers to a 78 GTS, I am not sure if the 78 and the 82 have the same calipers.

For a brake caliper reference it is important to know what you are looking for. A lot of calipers frm this era were shared among many cars, but you will find that in many cases the caliper is a sandwich with the two bore sides clamping a spacer. The spacer can be various thicknesses. If the calper is run on solid discs for some lightweight econo car the spacer is left out, if it is being used on some car with thick vented rotors the sapcer is thick. So for a rebuild kit a cross reference would be fine, but if you are ordering a caliper new or going junk yard hunting keep this possible issue in mind.
