Can anyone tell me what this means? FOB? Thanks!
FOB in most instances refers to the "Remote Fob" for the cars alarm/ignition security system. Fob in the general sense with cars is the small keychain trinket. Not to steal this thread but can the reprogramming be done successfully to add in a missing Black Fob? I have the PIN code, my red fob and 1 black one. If I get another Fob, say from e-bay (assuming proper freq, etc.) can you just do the programming sequence and add this one in? Or do all 3 Fobs need to come as a set?
Steve- Affirmative. That is why it is so important to keep the red fob safe. Do not buy one from Europe. Different frequency. Taz Terry Phillips
I assume you have done this to add a second black FOB? Basically that's what I am looking to do since I only have 1 black FOB. Just a little nervous to start in and loose communication with my 2 working FOBs!
Heres my delema, when my car arrived on the transporter the car battery was dead and required to be boosted. After several cranking attempts I realized that the black (slave) fob batery was dead also. I had the red (master) and used it and all was good. Now when I remplaced the battery in the slave fob it will not deactive the alarm only the master works. Any suggestions?
Here's a great Thread on the issue of Fob cloning and reprogramming: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=132424&highlight=clone+black+remote&page=4
When used in the manner we are discussing, fob, is not an acronym. A fob is a type of security "token", i.e., a small hardware device with built-in authentication mechanism(s) which send a pre-programmed signal to a receiver. Similar to keys on a key chain, a fob controls access to the owner's home or car, access to network services and information, and the like.
