Vettel is exceptional but the relative comparison is all we have to go on. The fact is Buemi now has 3 career points and Bourdais has 6. Buemi has driven in 9 Grand Prix and Bourdais has driven in 27. In any big money sport, production/efficiency is the #1 measure by which rookies are recruited and judged. Is it a bit too soon to hang him from the tree? Perhaps, but I would imagine that there were many other mitigating factors involved (unhappiness by sponsors, lack of car development, difficulty with the team, etc.) Am I saying that Bourdais is a bad driver? No. I think that he is great in the LM series (I thought he did a great job in Sebring with the exception of 1 spin.) For whatever reason, he simply does not seem comfortable driving in F1 and his results reflect that.
This is Buemi's 1st year, and he has 3 points to Bourdais' 2 for the year. I would bet that they would end off the year very close to each other, or with Bourdais slightly ahead. But of course, we'll never get to see that.
The fact is Bourdais should be blowing Buemi into the weeds ..he isn't. He was overshadowed almost everywhere by Vettel. And lest we should forget :In Barcelona Buemi was again faster and made it through to Q2. Bourdais ran into the back of Buemi in the first corner accident and both were put out of the race..nightmare. I have no doubt that Bourdais did his best, It may just be that his best is not quite good enough.
What nonsense. Did you ever bother to look at the results of the races? Apparently not, so I did it for you: Ending race position ahead of team driver: Buemi 5 Bourdais 3 (1 DNF for both in the same race) Qualifying grid position ahead of team driver: Buemi 7 Bourdais 2 And lets not forget this was Bourdais second season yet rookie Buemi cleans his plate in number of points, grid position and race position.
This is exactly my point. Bourdais is 30 and has been racing as long as Buemi has been alive (and professionally for about 12 years.) How much better can he get?
i can't believe this thread is still going. isn't it factually obvious SeaBass has not performed up to par against said teammates? threads like this is the reason i've turned into a lurker...quietly enjoying the season, watching not knowing who is going to step up this year...been pretty fun so far... c'mon guys, lets bicker about JUICY stuff... ermm.. any more dirt on Porno Max
This kid makes me want to facepalm. Not only does he talk too much and will most likely be slow, also the first ever on the grid to wear makeup/eyeliner? Big mouth, emo F1 drivers ftl. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Correct Joe.. when comparing drivers in the same car the facts speak for themselves.. Jeez haven't we heard enough from that cretin..Dave ......We can do Hamilton Bashing thats seems the next best thing on here..
HAHAHA yes he is a tool. I don't know anything about his driving or record so I can't speak on that, but he definitely isn't getting off on the right foot in terms of personality. Marketing exercise perhaps? The new "bad boy" of F1? If so....ugh.
"Bourdais never drove in the IRL, maybe you should get your facts straight before you state "those are the facts". He drove in Champ cars, which is a step above the IRL, and a step below F1." kiz, I stand corrected. The great champion of top level North American open wheel racing was bested by teammates for two (1 1/2) years, then fired. I would like to have seen Bourdais succeed, but he didn't. Potential, talent, past success and the like are things your parents, and maybe your wife, care about; results are all that matters to everyone else.
What The...??? i've only seen college aged girls wear those kinds of sunglasses... and the previous pic...eyeliner... um...no comment...
Ringo Starr wannabee prior photo = Michael Jackson wannabee, although missing permanent lip color egads.... Carol
You describe 3 points to 2 as "cleans his plate"???? As so many have stated in this thread, results are the only thing that matters, which equates to points, not grid or race positions. What Vettel did against Bourdais was "clean his plate", which is exactly what Vettel would be doing this year if he was team mate to either Buemi or Bourdais in the STR.
I really hope he gets picked up by another team. I don't think one's results on one team for 1 1/2 years should summarize one's potential in F1. Just take a look at Jenson Button.......
But he did fairly well when he started, then had one of the worst cars on the grid. --- SCRAP THAT Just looked at his actual results compared to his teammates .
Come on Carol, he's CLEARLY saving all his mental energy so that he can learn F1 tracks, cars, competitors, regs, strategy.....wait, we didn't they go with Loeb again? Too many Sebastians in the mix?
Who's this kid going to take out in Hungary? Anyone running a book on it? Re make up, I thought Lewis was wearing some during his talk to the media post race, when complaining about not stopping. It was either that or he was totally CGI.
hopefully only himself but could be Fisi - in the qualifying for the Renault WS at LeMans, he qualified 5th being out qualified again by his teammate (does this sound familiar??) Carol
