OK. CELs all over the place and none of it makes sense. P0422, P0432, P1445, P1449, P1448, resulting in 3 new cat ECUs (so the 1445, 1449, and 1448 isn't because of a failed unit). A new Capristo bypass valve (so the 1448 isn't because of that). New secondary and primary o2's (so the 0422 and 0433 isn't from that). The Hyperflow cats are new (so the 0422 and 0432 SHOULDN'T be because of them). The headers are new fabspeeds as well as the y-pipe (so there are no crack-issues). I get the slow-down light if I let the car idle for about 10 minutes. I'm wondering if the hyperflows are truly bad, causing excessive heat at idle and heat-soaking the thermocouples. Anyway... what can be the harm (other than the P0422 and P0423 CEL) in replacing the hyperflows with test pipes?? I can live with the check engine light from the 2ndary o2s as long as I have no other codes besides the bank 1 and bank 2 below threshold. Any thoughts on this?? --Nick
I'd suggest various tests for finding what is causing your trouble, rather than guessing at replacement parts. For instance, are you seeing little white strands coming out of your exhaust that would hint at exhaust header failure? Do you hear a ticking noise from your engine bay at idle? What's your Air/Fuel ratio at idle? Do you see a thin rainbow sheen on top of your coolant fill reservoir when you open the radiator cap and peer inside? Do you see a milky or muddy looking substance when you look into your oil fill reservoir? Have you read your spark plugs? What's the compression and leakdown in each cylinder? You can do things my way or you can sign over $50k in maintenance and parts expenses...either will get you running properly eventually.
you could recon the cylinder heads, fit new headers and exhaust etc. for way less than 50K. So forget that. Who is doing the diagnostics on your vehicle, certainly seems that someone has been guessing at solutions, certain that internet wannabe experts will not do you any better. Geet it to a reputable shop, explain the history and have it properly inspected by an expert.
I'd already checked for oil film in the coolant and water in the oil. The headers are replaced already becuase the stocks had cracked. I had these errors prior to the exhaust upgrades, and the parts replaced were replaced due to known issues. It just struck me odd that especially the below threshold cat errors returned approximately 7,000 miles later. I've made an appointment at my closest Ferrari dealer already. I just thought that some cheap test pipes would at leastet me see if the cat temp errors would resolve. --Nick
