I found the Ferrari I've been searching for, and I'm about to buy it. Some say prices will be lower next year, and will continue to fall. Others advise me to wait and find a newer car for near the same money next year. Still others warn me of problems that the PPI missed, and to put $20K in reserve so I'll have enough to take me through the problems that will surely come up soon.

I've listened to all of these well intentioned reasons for nearly thirty years, and for all of that time I've delayed buying the car I always wanted - a Ferrari. If I had just bought the car back then, I've had certainly had unexpected repairs, high upkeep costs, and maybe even been disappointed in some aspects of ownership.

But I'll never know, because someone else's opinion swayed me from enjoying the car I wanted. Now I'll face the same potential problems, and regardless of what happens with this car, I can at last say I own a Ferrari, but I can never get back the thirty years of memories that I have missed.

I've lost several friends over the last few years, and I'm not getting any younger. If I don't do it now, I never will. In the end, money still is important, and no one wants to throw it away, but worrying about the best deal, the lowest price and what might go wrong is no way to live your life. If there is anything I can pass along to those of you who are on the fence about buying "THE CAR", all I can say is don't let thirty years pass you by. If you have the means and the desire, why live with "what ifs".

Enjoy the ride - and the Ferrari is just part of it. The real ride is fulfilling a dream that spans 30 years.

your so right. I bought two years ago at the age of 52. I had over $29k in savings not for the ferrari up keep but if needed it was there. I knew that when I bought it was coming due to the 30k serviceand that was the best $5k I spent becuase since then I've not worry about have far or how long I take it for a drive and worry about it baraking down. As for next year the are going down in prices.maybe for those who haven't taken care of their cars sure.but they are still holding on to be a good asset

Some in the Ferrari community are still reeling because they can't order a car and flip it for $10k more than what they paid 6 months prior. The realization that, yes, even a Ferrari can depreciate can be a tough pill to swallow. If you're comfortable with the price tag, buy the car. You can die tomorrow.

Would you rather have the satisfaction that there's xx amount of dollars in your BofA account or that you had the joy of owning a Ferrari?

Only you can answer that question.

if you are ready, buy it. advice is nice, but ultimately you are the one who will own/drive/repair it.

before i bought mine, about half my friends told me i was crazy but i did not listen to them, and then after i got it i did not get anymore "you're crazy" comments

Hopefully you had a reputable mechanic do the PPI. I say go ahead and buy it. I wound up buying a 308 GTSi rather than the "perfect" 308QV I was looking for. I now have 3 months of enjoyment and money in the bank. If you can buy this one with $$ left to cover any gotchas, go for it. The summer is almost gone.

There will always be reasons to wait, and there might never be a perfect time to buy, but now would be a good time if you've got the cash. Sometimes you just have to take the plunge. DO IT!!!

    Vegas baby

Absolutely... and this is a good thing.

I waited 3 years to get a new F430. Then, 4 months later after I got it, I had chest pains. Turns out I needed a quad bi-pass. My doctor said I had a week to live if I didn't get immediate attention. Now, I'm perfect again and loving every minute of driving the car I absolutely adore.

Stuff like that makes you realize just how much you appreciate being here and being in good health to be able to enjoy it. Life is truly short.

Bottom line: If you an afford it, go ahead and enjoy your life to the fullest.

Buy the model that you lust after. Don't buy what other people want. Make a move with your emotions or gut feelings. They all will require costly maintenance.
