What is the world coming to?
Sad news indeed for the 328 community. Some buyer will be very lucky and I hope they keep it original (other than the Tubi) and take care of it as he did. My only guess is Jon bought an older, very desirable, front-engined Ferrari.
Here it is!! What a gorgeous machine it is!! http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/vbclassified.php?do=ad&id=1624
Like Corbani's 246? I thought he was asking about a 355...but a 246 has better value and usually is an attraction at car shows.
Last night I read the post about a neglected Lambo, just saddens you.... and now.... The parting of a Gorgeous 328 from an venerable member..... Hope Bullfighter is well....(cant wait to see whats in store)...
Hey Onno, Nope, it was the most unlikely, but I forgot to put the smiley there! Mind you, I like the looks of the Merak, but not to replace a 328! Jack.
Wow, that was unexpected. Hopefully, Jon will still visit the 3X8 forum and share his opinions with us.
Older is a good guess. Merak is an, um, original guess! Lol. Truthfully, black metallic is an incredible color on a 328. I'm not happy about offering it for sale, because I am pretty sure it's not replaceable at this point. It's a matter of money, time and garage space (story of my life...) There is an equally nice black metallic/black 328 with slightly lower mileage, in private hands, but as you know I'm not keen on the convex wheels for aesthetic reasons. So, yes, I've had a couple of sleepless nights thinking about giving up my current car. I have a small list of cars that I've always wanted to own in my life. The 328 is one of them. Some cars on the list are stupidly expensive and rare (Jag XK-SS), some of them are remotely possible someday if things go well (F40), and some of them are attainable given the current market. I'm trying to stretch into one of those relatively 'attainable' ones. While the 328 will always be one of my all-time favorite sports cars it may be time to move on to the Next Thing. Once I have done the deal (and it includes restoration costs in excess of the value of my 328), I will certainly post here.
sounds fair, just don't forget your 3x8 brothers (although, with you convex wheels you were always only half part of it)
Man, I'm pretty new to this particular space, but even I am under the impression a legend of the 3x8 community is about to go AWOL... But, since speculation is running wild anyhow, allow me to take stab at the 'successor': 365 GT4 BB?! or 512? Family resemblance to the 328, mid-engined and all, but a clear step up, i.e. 12 cyls. Yet still sort of affordable (depending on one's definition, that is).
What other options do we have in mid-ship sixes.....let's take another stab at it: A Stratos? (It wouldn't be one of the 2 most obvious, would it?)
Clearly, Jon doesn't want to reveal his purchase aspiration. I think we should respect that and not continue to guess. I'm quite sure, given his past relationship with the 3x8 bretheren, that he will inform us when he feels he can/should. Thanks for the help when I was an owner Jon, hope your new purchase goes well.
