Having poured over the official pics, I just went back to look at some Scud shots. Compared to this, the poor Scud looks so out of date it isn't true... Still want one though...

Scud base price was 172k GBP - most were closer to 190k with extras.

I suppose there are a lot of factors - most articles suspect the 458 Spider will be at least 18 months away (I believe there were more 430 Spiders sold than Coupes)so perhaps Ferrari is feeling the market to see how many 430 Spider owners move to the California instead - more usable and better daily driver.

If they're making the 458 more hardcore and therefore expect to sell less of them, then the price will be higher, yes.

Scud and 16M were huge money-spinners for Ferrari - heavy sales demand with a heavy price premium and arguable not much extra build cost over 430 (although perhaps quite a bit of R&D) but volumes were around 1,500 for Scud and 499 for 16m.

I suppose in the current times most luxury good manufacturers have realised there top customers can pay more, and that can more than compensate for loss of buyers at the bottom end of the spectrum - so less volume but more profit.

Call me when Ferrari actually realeases pictures.

If this is the real deal, i don't like it that much,
that space beatween headlight and the bonet is awkward.

I guess it looks good in real.

458 Italia dry weight is 1,380kg with 562bhp

    F430's dry weight is 1,350kg

Scuderia is 1,250kg with 510bhp - yet only marginally slower

Granted it's a beautiful car and the aero aids sounds amazing - but they're really just put more power into a slightly heavier car than its predecessor - so much for the lightweight marketing bull****. The Scuderia was 100kg lighter than that F430 and it's 140kg lighter than the 458!

Go figure - is this progress?

The Autocar article mentions how air is designed to flow around the cabin and over the integrated rear spoiler but I wonder if this will lead to increased wind noise inside the cockpit. I imagine this could be a more significant problem in the upcoming Spyder.

Sorry if ya don't like it... Hopefully the people who don't like it don't buy it just to buy it because they can.. In otherwards, I don't want to wait an extra year because I cant get first allocation and then see 20 on the used car market with 250 miles or less... The days of buying then flipping are over so if you guys are reading, please do not buy and let me get mine....... Thanks and have a nice day.....
If ya haven't guessed, I WANT ONE!!!

Too much Enzo design in it IMO...why would they do that when the Enzo was just a lukewarm design???

Overall loads better than they did on the Cali but still not a stunning car.

I'll take the 430 Scud over this any day.

It will be nice when Ferrari stops releasing a batch of computer rendered studio images on the release of a new car. There are plenty of amazing photographers Ferrari could use for their new model release photos taken in natural lighting and natural surroundings.

That being said, the 458 Italia is sexy. Can't wait to see more!
