Definitely not a carbon copy...but the black grill area at least seems similar.

Hehe. Well, the thought came to me while I was playing Hot Wheels with my son. Perhaps I just had Italia on the brain.

Not remotely. P4/5 alike, Pininfarina reusing Jim's car design.

I agree the front window is like the p4/5 I guess the full design will grow on us.

288GTO is of course Salma Hayek...one of the most beautiful women in the world and one of the most beautiful cars in the world.

Not to say the Italia is ugly..its not..Barr was probably an unfair comparison. but it certainly cannot hold a candle the the automotive perfection that is the 288GTO

It looks like a F430 that turned into the P4/5, absolutely gorgeous!

Really? It looks more like a McLaren F1 than it does the P4/5

It reminds me very much of some of the models from a Ferrari design contest several years ago. It has overtones of the Pagani Zonda at the rear of the greenhouse, and the tail is part Enzo and part F430. The front end is a bit generic, but this design is definitely a sea change for Ferrari. I think that Pininfarina has leapfrogged the Gallardo with a model that will probably age well, and become more admired as time goes on. I would have liked to see a bit more shape in the grille area, but the car is certainly stunning. Fred

Only to the untrained eye my friend.

Of course I am a design snob that dislikes 80% of all design

Can you please do a design analysis showing the styling elements from the 355 ? Ive been a professional designer for over 20 years and I dont see 355 in it other than some standard Ferrari styling cues such as the single grill opening.

The connection between the 288 and the Italia is distant but there...a little bit. F355 was styled after the 288. And the Italia has some very similar design cues to the F355. (like the rear quarter window intakes)

But this is the same way Vienna was modeled after Paris and Budapest after Vienna. Supposive cousins but who could really tell?

The more I look at the 458, the more I see a 612 P4/5 front clip, Pagani Zonda roof and Enzo/California/F430 tail. Fred

To me the car bears a considerable resemblance to the Dino 246, especially at the front around the wheel arches. Though this is probably me looking for similarities in the 458 to my favorite car design.

    agree; it's "Enzo-light"

where some people are getting other cars' influence in the 458 is a little baffling. 288GTO? ??

If one only looks at the details, then yes single front grill opening is one of the obvious ........ I am speaking of the overall proportions like the lower flatter wider nose with defined lines .... the lower front cowling along with the lower door heights and the pointed rear quarter windows are clues they looked to previous successful designs like the 355/288 ........ of course there will always be people who see it differently ...... but no matter what ..... it is still in the 'eye of the beholder' ............. so when compared between the 360/430 or the 355/288 ....... I would say the 458 is closer to the 355/288.

Then bring in the p4/5 and enzo .......... and it shares a lot, if not even more obvious features and proportions. Though I stand by my opinion ........ the 458 still looks like a very modern 355 ...... ;)

    +1 ..... the 355 design details do show a big 288 influence ........ :)

Stop living in the past & hype.

99/100 could not tell difference between a GTO & 308. We all have our biases and worst ones are where we talk ourselves into believing something that is not true. [:-}]

458 is a phenomenon. It is utterly beautiful and it is a supercar (200mph, <3.5s).

It's funny you say that. Last year while attending IED in Turin a few of our "teachers" were from that graduating class, two of them were working with Pininfarina and you can definitely see their style in the design.
