Just saw this. Sounds smooth. http://jalopnik.com/5324559/ferrari-shows-us-the-458-italias-interior-sweetly-sonorous-engine-note?autoplay=true
Rather than give Jalopnik the pleasure (see F1 section for their flip insults to a comatose Felipe Massa) use this link instead: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mnO97440iU
HI all, Don't get me wrong, it sounds distinctly like an F car, only I think that with Ferrari's direction with larger capacity engines is well, not good at all.... Now if it sounded more like an F355's metallic shrieking wail it woulda been nicer, IMHO....... Think about it guys, just from the sound heard above, the new engine direction, with it's 4.5 liters, well, to really put it bluntly, it almost sounds like an SBC with 180 degree type headers... Perhaps I am just totally smitten with the 355's sound, no, , I don't own one yet! I guess I was looking for something more metallic in nature then guttural....... *Put's on flame suit* Sorry guys but it is an opionon, even though I do like the sound some... NOW, that freakin interior, OH MY GAWWWWWWD! Now were going somewhere's!
Sounds good, but not near as good as a 355. Thats a classic Fcar sound to me, doesnt get much better.
The 355 sounds great but if a Kreissieg f1 exhaust on the 458 sounds anything like one on a Scud it will be AWESOME! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8dP-m4sfJc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdI3FwiAwR4
Surprised no one has mentioned the Stradale's bonzai wail. Still one of the best Ferrari notes out there imo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKUVaDDNH8w
What do you think the extra buttons on the steering wheel are? Indicators? Gear shift buttons? Do you see paddles?
I have to admit, I like the sound of my 355 better, I like the CS and scud better too (in decreasing order). It is too smooth to me. Who knows how accurate this is though, and what can be done to it by the aftermarket community. They will have things figured out long before I can afford one anyway.
I agree I hope they use paddles!!! Im also surprised they didn't use carbon fiber on the interior or those L.E.D. shift lights! Personally I think the interior looks too overcrowded and techy
I think they are for suspension adjustment. The horn buttons are no longer in the steering wheel outer rim (a great improvement). This car has launch control and I wonder if it's in the center console. My guess is that the TFT display next to the tach is also used to be the GPS. Has anyone noticed that the wheel is not round but the shape of an F-1 wheel?
