I don't have any experience with Michelin Pilots, but the Pirellis on my 599 have a tendency to break loose if I depress the pedal about 3/4 the way down in gear 1 or 2. Perhaps I'm just not used to driving other cars as fast as the 599, but should I really be experiencing wheelspin and loss of traction that causes the tail to jerk around under straight acceleration on dry roads from a rolling start?

I never experienced anything like that on the 599.

Where did you have the manettino set?

Given the car's power and torque, if you exclude traction control, I believe it's quite normal for the rear-wheels to loose traction through 1st and 2nd gear under hard acceleration...even in a straight line.

In sport mode, however, the car feels panted in all conditions on dry roads.

Thanks. I would expect pick-up at the factory early October 09.

    Regards,

Strange. I never experienced anything like that. The TC seems to take care of any loss of traction almost instantaneously in Sport mode.

Maybe I didn't try hard enough...

    Don't forget the camera ;)

I may stop by Monaco on the way back. If you're in town you can check her out. But I'll make sure to have pictures just in case you're out playing with your beauty.

    Cheers,

Oh don't get me wrong, the TC is amazingly good, it takes care the loss of traction almost immediately, but the fact remains that the car does lose traction under hard straight line acceleration. Perhaps this problem might be fixed with better tyres, but I haven't had any experience with other types of tyres.

pirelli tire too stiff and not compliant. harsh and annoying and not great traction as a result. only good on perfectly smooth surfaces.

...and what's the better alternative to Pirellis in your opinion?

Nice to see you here and that you finally will gettign your 599. Talk a bout a special one. My only advice would be a lighter interiour and more alcantara :) It loosk so great. I saw a black 59 with black alcantare evrywhere inthe interiour incl. the rollcage and the isntrumentpanel, tjhat alsolooked specatuclar.

Thanks Gustav. Nice to see you on this board as well. I think I know what 599 you refer to. It does indeed look stunning.

Ferrari advised not to go too light on the main interior colour since Grigio Ferro Met isn't a very dark grey to begin with. It is lighter than Grigio Silverstone. They convinced me to follow their advise based on the samples they showed me at the Atelier. Nevertheless, it will be exciting to she how she looks like and if I made the right choice.

    Cheers,

    M

Congrats, the car sound absolutely spectacular. Can't wait to see pics when you pick it up. :)

I'm assuming that as you've ordered the roll bar you're going to be take it to a track a few times? Now that would be alot of fun :D. Congrats again.

Oh yes. Ferrari's need to see a track every once and a while. That is what keeps them happy :)

Latest is that the car will be ready end of October so I expect pick-up first week of November 09.

Someone posted this picture in the 458 Italia section on October 8th 09. Look at the rear bumper / diffusor on the truck. Unless there is another 599 in Grigio Ferro Met in build with the diffusor in CF (seems to be taped on the picture for painting purposes) this rear bumper could very well be mine.

    Cheers,

Did you arrange the Atelier program with your dealer and did a dealer rep go with you? Thanks!

Guys, this is becoming reality. Invoice received with Chassis number, engine number. As it is right now delivery at the factory is scheduled for November 6th 09 (to be confirmed 100% by F in the next couple of days).

If it will be confirmed it means less then 2 weeks to go. I'm soooooo excited.

    Cheers,

    M
