Just curious.... I was thinking about wiring up my fans to a switch inside the car, so I can either manually turn them on at any time OR leave them in the normal "auto" mode, in which they would cycle on and off depending on the temp sensors. I was just wondering if anyone else had done this before? My mechanic said it would be very easy to do, and mentioned that some of the challenge cars had this done to them to aid in cooling. Can anyone chime in with any experience or knowledge they may have in regards to this? Its not something I need to do, just thinking of doing it as a precaution. I think it would be nice to be able to switch them on myself if I ever get stuck in really really bad traffic. Thanks in advance guys... Petey
I know one of the fans turns on when you turn on the A/C... but how would a manual fan switch affect the A/C Detrimentally? I'm sorry if its a stupid question.... Also, would anyone know if there is a "kit" available to purchase for this or will my tech have to fabricate and wire something on his own ??
In 5 years I used the air con once. Maybe I should just take it out. How many horses does one gain by not having that pully and belt turning. Plus the 7 or 8 Kilos it weighs?
Our cars have A/C ?? I have the top down 90% of the time and the other 10% its winter so I dont need it. Does anyone have anymore info or leads to a kit??
I wouldn't bother with a switch. It really isn't necessary, if the cooling system is operating correctly, the engine seems to regulate itself just fine. Problems arise when a part fails, such as the fan motors themselves, or in the case of the left side fan, the thermoswitch.
