the 458 looks perfect to me, nothing need to change
IMO ...... the scud front and the 308 vent do not match the 'elegant' lines of the standard 458 .......... though being plain ... I think they should have put some fog lamps in the 458 front and get rid of those 'blingy' LEDs .......
Thank the lord they went with the new front end, the 430ish style front doesn't look right at all on the car. I was tired of it, and thought the 360/430 front end never looked proper.
You guys are thinking backward You are lucky that design of this car can take all of the photoshop abuse! Which cannot be said for F430
As soon as I saw the new 458 design I knew I would miss the rear fender vents from the 430. Those 308 are perfect. I also will miss the the flow trhough mirror arm design on the 430. I think that is a very cool deisign feature.
Apparently those little winglets are designed to deform under air pressure, so the front end is purely aesthetic (obviously) but reportedly an innovation in air flow management.
That's what I've been reading, and I think Napolis had mentioned. Glad that Ferrari has finally designed a car that brings this much discussion from all aspects. I don't remember it being like this for the 430.
Speaking of grill, what do you guys think of this Italia with an imaginary challenge grill? I liked it... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yeah, I like that much better than what it is now. Another example just like it, which I love. I want one just like it. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'm going to bet that a wide carbon fiber or challenge grill option as shown for the 458 will become an option. Just like it was an option for the 360 and F430. Going back to the contrasting color black front grill. I think a contrasting black body panel is the new style detail that the designers will incorporate into the next generation of models. It first appeared with the rear black strip of the California. And I think that you might see the contrasting black body work in the next 612 and 599 designs, too. Rear multilink suspension seems to be in the cards for the next generation models too. Also, it appears that the side mirrors have moved from conventional window triangle to the door panel. Interesting decision since this location probably costs more for Ferrari to assemble.
I also agree that something is wrong with the grill. The PS renders are wonderful (adding a 430 grill). The simple "painting" (body color) of the grill is also great. Thanks to those who took the time to do that and post them. The 308/328 ducts I think are a nice addition. I suppose if I did get a 458, the first thing I would do is make the front grill body color as it might prove to be cost prohibitive to change the grill to a 430 grill. Should we forward this thread to Luca before the Sept. unveiling. That way they have time to make the changes???? Thanks again, michael brown
Not sure if a side profile with the side vent was posted, but here's my shot at it. I would like to see what the rear would look like with 4 taillights. Image Unavailable, Please Login
