Thats funny. he was right. All those who predicted 599 prices would fall like a rock, were wrong. Still not selling at MSRP - 2 years on. 430 prices have actually come down more.

Fchat is a great place to learn about other places. Luckily HK seems to be more like Europe than the US. There is a hard core group here that are not too worried about mileage, stone chips, rain, track... It is so easy to fix all that stuff before resale and the car will be perfect

The correct response was "I was wrong", but as usual, you're incapable of being wrong...

Predicting the future is treacherous. Don't get defensive.
This is suppose to be entertainment not serious business

..hmmm, reread my post (1 1/2 years old...hence the 'up to date' comment). Not quite sure where exactly I was 'wrong'. My comments were mostly about the treatment of the Ferrari community by the dealer network, and my personal opinion that the 599 has some questionable design attributes (echoed by several respected publications in the past 2 years). If people are happy paying well over list, that is their business. Eventually the same economics of the 'mass produced' front engined Ferrari will take hold. If you got yours at MSRP, then perhaps it is time to sell. If you paid over list, then it is probably money you won't see again. At the end of the day, it's personal choice on all of these issues. Either way enjoy the car if it's what makes you happy. Wrong, no...opinions are always valid, even if they differ.

Your comment can be interpreted in several ways. If your intentions are good it's likewise from me.
Sometimes the cultural differences between USA and Europe can lead to misunderstandings but you
guys have one distinct advantage - Ferrari's at list for everyone

Hate to drag up this old thread, but maybe some will get a chuckle at my spectacularly inaccurate prediction ...

    yours sheepishly...

    "I was wrong" ... indeed.

As a general rule, contract rights, just like a watch or a house or a car are alienable--meaning that they are able to be sold. Unless there is a specific provision in the contract to the contrary, a person can sell any right that he has. For example, say that I own a shopping center and a tenant has a right of first refusal on the adjoining space. If I sell the shopping center, the tenant still has the right of first refusal. In fact, if the tenant sells his business, the buyer of his business inherits the lease and the new tenant has the right of first refusal. So the two original parties have departed (me as owner and my tenant) and the two new parties (the new owner and the new tenant) have the exact "right" that existed with prior parties.

If this is in writing and unless there is a specific provision to the contrary, the right of first refusal is able to be bought, sold, assigned, transferred, etc.

Actually, you were not that very wrong after all.
Considering the state of the economy, values of used 599s are holding pretty well when compared to ANY other cars.

    True.

There are a lot of brand new 0km cars sitting on showroom floors that you can have for a 20% to 40% discount nowadays.

All considered the 599 is doing quite nicely...relatively speaking (and the other Ferraris as well).

You are saying that you can get a new 599 from a dealer at a 40% discount? I call BS on that!

I read it as "There are a lot of brand new 0km cars (other cars--besides the 599, and other new Ferraris) sitting on showroom floors that you can have for a 20% to 40% discount".

No. Not a 599 or any Ferrari! Quite the contrary.

I was talking about other cars. Like Porsches for instance.

Sorry, perhaps I didn't express myself properly.

Yes, that's what I was trying to say.
