What about JAWS? I know people were scared sh@$#less to go into the water after they saw the movie. But the scariest I have seen is Exorcist. Anything to do with Denomic possession or the devil, scares the crap out of me.

Ok, the 1st Texas was the worst when the old man sucked the bloody nub of a finger & was getting off. The remake was sick when the sheriff was wrapping the grey matter splattered teen in Saran wrap talking about copping a feel & then doing it: “she’s kinda wet down there. What you been doing with this body?”
Alien is a classic! Giger rocks!!!
What was that movie w/ Denzel Washington where possession was passed with a touch?
Also, Silence of the Lambs deserves its place. Was not Dr Lecter wicked in a get-into-your-head brilliant way while savoring your taste?

I just watched Phone Booth on FX. Pretty scary when you think that could happen in real life. Obviously the chances of it happening are really really remote but still.

Whos Murnau and what was so creepy about him? I dont think I've ever heard of him before.

I was referring to John Wayne Gacey. A real life evil, sadistic, rapist in a clown suit.

F.W. Murnau directed the silent version of a Dracula movie, Nosferatu, which was mentioned here and some consider to be the height of creepiness. Murnau's last film, Tabu, i think it was entitled, was made on some remote island in Polynesia/Bali/something- he trespassed into an area the natives warned him against, and was cursed.
Some time thereafter, upon return to the US, and shortly before the premiere of said cursed film he was killed in a rather strange auto accident. Apparently, he was sucking off his young valet, who was driving and wound up giving new meaning to the term 'giving head.'
Moral of story- when filming in native lands, avoid cursed grounds, and do not, under any circumstances, permit locals to put curse on you. The rest is, hmmm, history.

    Spill it!

    I'll go first:

The pig head scenes in The Village (with high end surround system where you'd hear every detail) gave me heavy goosebumps (creatures with human bodies but pig heads wearing capes, walking around at night knocking on peoples doors)
A lot of cave scenes in The Descent also gave me chills (creatures living in pitch black caves who climb on walls and make those tick-tick-tick-tick noises)

I guess the human-like creatures scare me more than demons and aliens. You?

The original Exorcist still freaks me out a little bit. When it originally came out in theaters, my sister, Melanie, saw it with her friends (she was around 17). My brother had just gotten home before her and saw her hauling ass up the drive (obviously still freaked out from the movie). Our old house had a closet right at the bottom of the stairs going up to the bedrooms, so in goes my brother. My sister flies in (it's after midnight) the door and starts running up the stairs. My brother opens the door as she passes and hisses, "Mellllllllllllanie". My sister couldn't even scream, she just fell flat on the stairs and couldn't move. Almost passed out from being scared!! We still crack up about that one! That's what you get when there's 7 kids in the family.........always someone, somewhere ready to get you!!!

To this day my oldest sister can not even be in the room if the "spider walk" scene is even talked about!! It was a deleted scene where Regan came down the stairs upside down on her fingertips and toe tips............................ewwwwwww I'm freaking out now!!

I hate horror movies but years and years ago I went on a date and we saw Poltergiest. I had no idea what the movie was until it started. It bothered me for days.

    Yes, I'm a wimp.

Only four movies have ever scared me

    The Exorcist
    The Omen
    The Sentinel
    Jaws

I was raised Catholic and saw the first three when I was a kid so that explains that. Jaws kept me out of the water for years.

It's gotta be: The Exorcist and Texas Chainsaw Massacre uncut. Other movies have made me jump but they were in a different league.

I'm the same way. The Exorcist is the scariest movie of all time I think.
Zombie movies like 28 Days Later or Quarantined always get me.

I hate all those movies where there's just so much blood and torture, can't watch any of them. One time, while at a friend's house, and he was giving me crap about not liking that stuff, and (stupidly ;)) I agreed to watch Saw III. I have never been so freaked out in my whole life. It was just the most disturbing thing I have ever seen. And not just scary, but just gross and messed up, ohhhh man I can't even talk about it. I was just mentally exhausted after seeing that, it was like the mental equivalent of going 10 rounds with Mike Tyson.

I'd tell you, but then... I'd have to kill you... when you least expect it.

Put it this way - It's rare enough to cost 120 bucks new or 95 used... for a VHS!

My original Poster cost half that... 10 years ago!

When I was very young, "The Birds", Alfred Hitchcock. Scared the hell out of me, I didn't sleep all night and stared at the fireplace.
I think the original "Alien" gave me a fair scare when it first came out.

Everything since has been pretty predictable.

The blood and gore does nothing for me, it's a gross out and disturbing but not really scary.
