we discussed that a hundred times !

there is no ugly Ferrari - maybe some types are not what you would expect from a supercar, but ugly? NO!
the Enzo is outstanding and unique and the 456 is one of the most elegant sportscars ever made.
even the 412 is a very sophisticated car.
the Breadvan is pure racing history and one of my top ten most wanted Ferrari.

    so whats ugly ?

maybe this Drogo rebodied Ferrari is really ugly - but i would like to own it anyway.
on the other hand Drogo created the most beautiful Ferrari - the 330 P4.

I believe the term "ugly Ferrari" is an oxymoron . No such thing , unless as some of the photos pointed out , they happen to be non factory Ferraris . Beauty is in the eye of the beholder . Some Ferraris are better than others for sure, but like sex , it's all good IMHO ! : )

    Yes.

The Enzo is an ugly car. That melted P3 that Glickenhouse designed is slightly better, but even it fails to hide the essential ugliness of the platform. It's fast and technically inspiring and all that, but pretty? Nope.

Jokes aside, I would tend to agree that Ferrari hasn't made any downright ugly cars. There are just some that (to me) don't look as good as I'd expect a Ferrari to look.

The 400/412 probably isn't ugly per se, but it just looks to "box-like" for my tastes.

Arguing about aesthetic is usually a lost cause. What pleases one may disgust another.

The Drogo car IMO. There are going to be opinions all over the place. I got a little hot that someone said 456. A car that I think will still be sultry in 50 years.

This isn't a thread for making friends.

Hey! Your favorite car, and pride and joy looks ugly.

The Enzo is brutal looking. IMO that's not the same as ugly.

Enzo looks like a proper supercar. There is no mistaking it for anything but the Ferrari current top dog. Judging aesthetics is a completely subjective affair; however, this is one situation where it's incredible -- literally not-credible -- that someone would call the Enzo Ferrari the ugliest Ferrari thus far.

Great. Another slam modern Ferraris thread....

Let's just answer the question this way since it will cover every possible answer:

    1) I hate everything Ferrari made after 1967.
    2) I hate everything Ferrari made since 1986.
    3) I hate everything Ferrari made after the 355
    4) I hate everything Ferrari made since Enzo died
    5) I hate everything Ferrari made since LDM got involved
    6) I hate everything.

I think I've covered most of it. I just saved everyone a lot of keystrokes. You can just pick a number.

Enzo. The guy that designed it Ken whatever his name was should have kept his day job designing Transformer type toy cars for Walmart. Glad Pinninfaraina fired him.

Have the people that picked the enzo seen one in the flesh? I have seen about a dozen and ridden in one and i can't for the life of me see how someone thinks it's ugly. Awe inspiring, yes. But the ugliest ferrari ever made?

I don't think the Enzo is the ugliest Ferrari ever made. And I would certainly love to have one, but it is definitely NOT a pretty car. Not that that's a bad thing. It's still bad-ass, just not pretty.

The Enzo isn't a looker, not sure whether it's the ugliest.

The F430 has some bad angles, but "ugliest Ferrari ever made" -- I doubt that. Its weakness is that the rear end appears bulky, which makes the wheels look small. It's also too long for a sports car. But, in the right colors, it's a handsome car.

I agree on the 456 -- not dramatic, but it is well drawn and probably will age well. It's a smart, conservative design.

The 612 is actually very impressive if you look at it as a GT car. I have seen one in nero daytona (black metallic) and it's an elegant car.

The California may be my least favorite recent Ferrari (although it still is a Ferrari...) It relies too much on styling gimmickry to mask some awkward proportions.

Yes, I've seen half a dozen, including a black one (my favorite color) here in San Diego. It's a brutal car, but from a design perspective it lacks the most important aspect a designer can impart to a car -- and that would be a compelling line from the front of the car to the rear. The Enzo is simply jarring.

I won't get into the "ugliest Ferrari" argument, but if you compare the Enzo to some widely hailed automotive designs you can see its failures in comparison. Look at a 250 GT Lusso, or 250 GT SWB, or Dino 246, and they suggest grace and flow, in an almost organic way. Jag C-Types and E-Types do this as well, as do the recent Alfa 8C and Aston Martin V8 Vantage. Even Porsche comes close, with the 993 and 997.

The Enzo looks unfinished, like a collection of parts hung on a frame. Great car? Yes. Great looking? Not even close.

Take a few minutes and go back through a book of the road cars (like Prunet) from the 1950s.

There are some horrors there that are simply hard to believe - especially considering that such things as the Jaguar XK cars, the 300SL, the BMW 327 sports roadster, (yes - I would even include MGTC, or the 1955 Thunderbird, on just a styling basis) were being done by others. Indeed, once in a while some very nice Ferrari work as well, but it is astonishing to note how many false starts the coachbuilders did before settling down on the ones we now call the classics.

Agree...Enzo took awhile to grow on me, now I think it's historic.

No one's mentioned the 330 Series I/Interim 2+2's! IMO, Beautiful and swanky in the right colors (darker solids and metallics), look like a firetruck in resale red or yellow.

Someone else will have to post a picture... I highly respect Letterman as actually a Ferrari guy vs. Leno, but he has one ugly vintage Ferrari.

I almost don't count the ones before the Europa and other "series" production. At that point Ferrari was basically a chassis/motor supplier, and there were certainly some BAD coachmakers hanging out in the area.

Actually, what was that early British coachbuilt one that was so ungainly?

It was the Abbott coachbuilt, don't have engine type or s/n.

To me, probably the most misconceived styling exercise ever on a Ferrari, along with some of the '50s experiments with the american-style tailfin-and-chrome look.

However, were I a billionaire, I'd buy the Abbott car...it's so bad it's almost good.

I have seen the Enzo plenty of times in person, while it may not be the ugliest it deserves special recognition and a higher spot on the ugliest Ferrari status because of its price and supposed Supercar ultimate Ferrari designation as that was its intent, the F50 is not attractive in my book but much better in the styling dept the F40 looks like a Supermodel in comparison to the Enzo which would be Rosie O.
