I'm not an owner but I was an installer so I hope you will let me try to answer your questions. First, a system map would be helpful. I am assuming you have 1 amp running the sub (bridged mono), 1 amp running the front speakers (2 channel) and 1 amp running the rear speakers (4 channel). Do you have an active crossover before the amps or are they getting the full signal and the passive crossovers are dividing the signal, or do the amps have crossovers built in? If you have an active crossover before the amps and there is one amp running the rear speakers you could put the crossover point a bit lower to the rear than the front and that would get you more bass from the rear. I would think though that the sub should give you all the bass you could want. I think you could eliminate two of the passive crossovers in the rear and that would help save space. Is the amp running the rear a 4 channel or a 2 channel? Assuming it is a 4 channel running in a 4ohm stereo load with one component set to each channel you could condense them by running it bridged to 2 channels and putting the driver and passenger left on one channel and the driver and passenger right on the other. You would have to wire them in series and create an 8 ohm load so as not to overload the amp but it can be done and that would eliminate the need for 2 of the crossovers. As for where to put them I have no idea I don't have any experience with finding places to put stuff in a 3X8. It may be possible to mount them in the boot with the sub and amps. I mentioned before that it has been a while since I have been in the business but I bet there is an EQ on the market that will let you play with each channel separately. You may not be able to do the driver and passenger left and right rear independently because now you are talking about 6 channels of equalization and honestly that would be a nightmare to try and do. Let me know and I will try to be as helpful as I can. Also, I live just east of Cleveland so I may be able to come help you with this. Personally, I like the wheels and the Blue is just awesome.
Thanks for the input. I ruled out AudioControl active crossovers a long time ago after sending a map to them (AudioControl). They had me set up with at least 5 more boxes... that would have taken half of the trunk. I'll post a system map... as that's how I started. There is just very little room in these cars... and I have not done any irreversible mods yet. Plus... running cables back to the trunk would require some type of conduit to run it in. Equalization is more of an issue for me than crossovers. I used to have my Magnepans running bi-amped at home with electronic crossovers... but I got some updated crossovers from the manufacturer... and just run them with the passive crossovers that they were designed to be used with. I think that sometimes... electronic crossovers are overused... unless you bi and tri amp everything. This was never meant to be an SPL record setter just wanted to hear music once in a while. I am starting to like the DVD player though so I might keep it in there. I quit buying CDs years ago and have 125+ Concert DVDs so it allows me to play much more variety than just CDs and MP3s.
System Map: Note to Ducman491: It would be nice to find a head unit that has separate front and rear equalization like the Bremen by Blaupunkt... but that unit is dated now (you need a new plug on the back just to have an AUX input)... and it doesn't have anywhere near the flexibility as this new Pyle unit. This thing can play all CDs (CDR, CDRW, VCD, etc), DVDs, has an iPod port in the front... and also a USB port and an SD slot on the front. I didn't think that I would ever use an SD card... but I kept all of the 1GB cards that I had when I updated some newer cameras to 4 GB... and it makes good use of the old cards. You can throw a lot of music on a 1 GB card. Same with the old USB Drives that most people have around the house. If I ever forget my 16 GB MP3 player... I've got a lot of music in that very small lockable compartment at the rear of the console. CDs and DVDs don't fit in there. So I am glad to have the flexibility... just need to take care of equalization... and those crossovers. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Noisemaker... as in table saws... radial arm saws... routers. I've been making noises and messes for decades.
Lots. big sub right behind the driver's seat. All stock though. somehow it just seems natural to roll up with rap music pounding. not so much in the 328.
OK, I GUESS MY SUBTLE ATTEMPT DIDN'T WORK. I've deleted the crap, again. ROCKIN - KEEP THIS THREAD TO YOUR CAR, NOT INSULTS. You're wandering dangerously close to troll status with some of your posts. ED - please, I'm begging you, leave this guy alone as long as he leaves you alone from this point forward. THE REST OF YOU GUYS TOO. Thanks, Dave
Very cool - I like it----It's your car to do what you want with-----If someone doesn't like it, oh well.....
Beautiful work but absolutely out of place in the car. To each his own but I sure hate to see a Ferrari cut up like that.
I like it and I like to play my music loud as well - everything from the newest rap from LMFAO, to hard rock like ACDC, or old school stuff like Alman Brothers, I love good music on a good car audio system. I pimped out my 360 with a nice sound system and chrome wheels and loved it. In my opinion the purists are boring folks who tuck their shirts in.
actually, that works on a 360. Or on my diablo, as i said in my previous post. on a 328, not so much. Tacky actually. I also can't tuck my shirt in. Stomachs too big. need to do more centuries.
OK enuf, Rockn, warned you not once, but twice to keep it professional, not personal. Take the weekend off. Go finish up the install, debug the system, and come on back Monday. DM
