Easy question. what oil do you put in your air wrenches? I've used the oil that I have for my air nailers and I've used "3-1" but the wrench spits oil on my car wheel when I'm shooting the lugs off..
Air tool oil is good, so is Marvel Mystery oil. They will all spit out the exhaust port after oiling. I hold a rag over the exhaust port and hold the trigger wide open for about 5 seconds after oiling. That will get about 95 % of it.
Ummm, I use whatever they had next to the air tools when I bought them... sorry, there is nothing on it about viscosity or much else. Sorry.
Nah, you? Neurotic?? Never. And you DAMN well better not be using that gun on MY FRIGGIN' DINO LUGS!!! And at work, we use whatever came with the tools. I can check for ya, if you promise not to use it on the Dino. DM
marvel mystery oil for me also. make sure you have a drier on your line, this can also cause a problem with some moisture mixing with the few drops of oil that you drip into the fitting before use.
MM Oil or Mac air tool oil has been my choice for years. I have a 1/2" impact gun that is over 20 years old now and still going strong without a rebuild.
Same here...And after a good lube job, my air impact wrench seems to have much more "break away" torque for those pesky "Dealer-installed to specs" Audi lug bolts.
This is correct as the oil is forming a liquid seal of the vanes to the housing. Same concept of squirting some oil into the spark plug hole of an engine that has low compression. If the copression goes up it points to the rings as the oil is helping them to seal to the cylinder walls,
